CRICKET
The 1st XI are some 70 runs ahead on the first innings in their away game against UCT, and a win this
week will make it very difficult for either UWC or Claremont (the only other two clubs in the running) to
catch us in the race for 1A League honours. The 1st XI is also in action this Sunday when they take on
UWC (at UWC, 11:00 start) in the semi-final of the one-day competition. Good luck to them - and also
to our Cobras representatives Michael Rippon, Johann Louw and Dane Vilas as they take on the
Titans on Wednesday night for a place in the Pro 20 Series final, as well as a spot in the lucrative
Champions League.
And congratulations must go to our own "Mr Cricket", Craig Beckwith, and his motley crew for yet
another surprise victory over the weekend. This will ensure that the proud traditions of WPCC will
continue to be upheld in the 3A Division for yet another year.
