SKATEBOARDS, ROLLER SKATES, AND IN‐LINE SKATES POLICY

Skateboards, Roller Skates, and In‐line Skates may be used as a form of point‐to‐point transportation on
sidewalks and in parking lots on campus. Skateboards, Roller skates, and in‐line skates are prohibited in
all other areas on campus including, but not limited to, the following areas:
1. All steps and handrails
2. All flower planters
3. All brick patios
4. All sit walls
5. All curbs and benches
6. The inside of all buildings
7. All streets (Criminal penalties may also apply to riding on the street)
It shall also be a violation of these regulations for any operator of a skateboard, roller skates, or in‐line
skates to engage in any trick riding on campus. Trick Riding is defined as any type of movement where
the wheels of the skateboard, roller skates, or in‐line skates are deliberately removed from contact with
the surface in a repetitive procedure.
Skateboarders, roller skaters, and in‐line skaters must yield right‐of‐way to pedestrians and wheelchairs.
Reckless operation and excessive speed shall constitute a violation of these regulations.
Violations of this regulation by students, faculty, or staff will be enforced in accordance with current
University guidelines for violations of the University Student Code of Conduct. In addition, the skateboard,
roller skates, or in‐line skates may be temporarily confiscated for possible use in a University hearing.
Violations of this regulation by visitors may result in the person being asked to leave campus. Future
violations or failure to leave the campus may result in an arrest for trespassing. The skateboard, roller
skates, or in‐line skates may be seized for use as evidence in a criminal proceeding.
