Best of 2009 Music
Welcome back to E16. I’m Kelly Wakelee here to fill you in on all this past years
greatest musical moments. As we look back on this year I have to wonder how we
ever survived! With all the deaths, scandals, and racy new artists that consumed the
year it left us all searching for the bright light at the end of the tunnel. But then we
all remember why worry about the bad stuff, we have Taylor Swift. She’s always
there when we need a good laugh or we just need to get through another awards
ceremony. So lets take a closer look because I’ve got everything that mattered this
past year right here on E16…
As we look back on this past year the most memorable moments seem to pile up
right around the VMAs. With her new hit entitled Paparazzi Lady Gaga was asked to
perform at the VMAs where she shocked the masses when blood began to cover the
front of her pure white outfit just before the song ended. She was then graphically
hung by her hands as fake blood continued to stream down her stomach. Well if she
didn’t have our attention before she definitely has it now and as we continue into
the New Year I’m sure she will continue to shock us all. However just recently Adam
Lambert outdid our attention seeking Gaga when he decided it would be a great idea
to make out with one of his dancers onstage on National Television! This became a
huge controversy and later many news stations decided the kiss was too racy for
television and refused to re-air the incident. So the infamous Britney and Madonna
kiss must have been a different story because that was all over TV for weeks! Poor
Adam, he tried to make it up to his fans by appearing on Ellen and apologizing for
maybe taking his show one step too far. Although some would say Adam crossed a
line we all know no one can cross the line better then Kayne West. How could we
ever forget his words? “Listen, Ima let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best
videos of all time” Need I say more? Although the scene was tragic Taylor Swift had
no time for tears as she went from event to event just piling up those awards.
Surprisingly, her biggest trophy is said to be a werewolf we all know as Taylor
Lautner. Keep it up Swift!! But sadly, as we gained a new star this year in Taylor
Swift it must be said once more how tragic it was that we lost another. Rest in Peace
Michael Jackson you will not be forgotten, especially now that we have a movie to
once more commemorate your huge impact on the music world.
Welcome back! With everything coming to a close I wanted to give you guys one last
ITunes pick of the week that I feel really sums up this year. This weeks ITunes Pick
of the week is Miley Cryus’s Party in the USA! Although this year has had its rough
patches, 2009 has never stopped being one big party! I wish you all the best Holiday
season, and remember to tune in next semester to Entertainment 16. Now lets toss
it over to Kaydi to get all the gossip you might have missed this year.
