  Are you aware of the many ways that honeybees are a part of your life? If you like snacking on sunflower
seeds, making guacamole with garlic, or wearing your favourite cotton t-shirt – you are enjoying the work of a
 honeybee. In 2007, beekeepers discovered that millions of honeybees were dying – and the reason for the
                                       massive die-off was unknown!

Read pg 5 – 10 in your textbook and answer the following questions in your notes.

1. Why are honeybees so important to flowering plants?
2. a) Did honeybees always play such an important role as pollinators?
    b) Explain why there was such a drastic change?
3. If honeybees were to become extinct, explain the impact (if any) this would have. Be specific and include 4 examples.
4. Why are honeybees dying? Explain two reasons.

6. How are similar genes in honeybees hurting their survival?
