This document is intended to provide a comprehensive summary of information about your department or college
that is useful during Program Review sessions. The first tab, Program Summary, provides a summary at a glance of data
about your department. There are six additional tabs with supplemental reports specific to your department or college.
This tab contains notes and definitions about data reported here:
PROGRAM SUMMARY Tab: The Number of Degrees table displays the number of degrees conferred in the degree year (Summer, Fall, and
Spring terms) that includes the designated term. The degree year is displayed in the upper left corner of the
table. Totals are displayed for undergraduate degrees, masters and educational specialist degrees,
professional (i.e. law) and doctoral degrees, and graduate certificates. These totals are broken out by gender
and ethnicity (based on the racial categories defined by IPEDS).
The Graduate Student Yield Rate table displays the number of degree-seeking graduate and professional
(i.e. law) students who applied, were accepted, and enrolled in the designated term. The yield rate is a
calculated value (number enrolled/number applied * 100).
The Faculty Profile table displays the number of part-time and full-time employees assigned to your department
with a designation of Faculty (EEOskill = 20). Full-time faculty are those with an EEO group designation of 1,2,3,5, or F.
Tenured faculty have a tenure code of "T9." Tenure-track faculty have a tenure code of "K9." All others are counted
as Non-tenured.
The Average Class Size table displays four-year trends of class sizes. The mean class size by course level
is provided for the designated term and the same term from the prior three years. Independent study, thesis,
dissertation and practicum sections are included in the calculation.
The Enrollment by Ethnicity and Gender table displays the unduplicated number of students enrolled in the
designated term. Totals are displayed for undergraduates, masters and educational specialists, professional
(i.e. Law) and doctoral students. These totals are broken out by gender and ethnicity (based on the racial categories
defined by IPEDS).
The Four Year Trends table displays enrollment totals and undergraduate percentages, cumulative grade point
averages, and test scores for the past four years. First Time Freshman are degree-seeking students who matriculated
during the designated term with either no previous college experience or with college credit earned before graduation
from high school (student type of N, A, or B). Non-White and Foreign student designations are based on IPEDS
definitions. The cumulative GPAs are all based on the beginning of term and are means for the group. The test scores
are all means and exclude scores from students who are not enrolled in Graduate or Law School (i.e. test scores for
undergraduates are not included in the mean calculations).
ENROLLMENT PROFILES Tab: This tab contains four supplemental reports about enrollment in your department for the designated term. The
reports are 1) Enrollment by Age Group and Classification; 2) Enrollment by Registration Type and Classification; 3)
Enrollment by Attendance Schedule and Classification; and 4) Enrollment by Geographic Origin and Classification.
APPLICANTS tab: This tab contains the Applicant Profile Report. It provides average (mean) high school GPA and test scores of
degree-seeking applicants who were accepted (application status = H or D) broken out by student type .
COURSE DEMAND tab: This tab provides total credit hour and enrollment statistics by course for the designated term and the previous year.
Included are the number of sections offered, the total credit hours generated in all sections of the course, a
headcount of those enrolled in all sections of the course, the enrollment capacity for all sections of the course and
the available seats (capacity - number enrolled).
COURSE SERVICE tab: This tab contains a report of the number and percentage of majors and non-majors taking each of the courses
in your department in the designated term. This report was formerly called the "Induced Course Load Matrix."
CREDIT HOUR PRODUCTION tab: This tab provides the total credit hours generated in your department for the designated term. The totals are
broken out by undergraduate and graduate courses.
TEACHING ACTIVITY tab: This tab contains five supplemental reports about teaching activity of faculty by tenure status. The first report
is aggregate totals of all courses in your department. The second report is totals for graduate courses. The third report
is totals for undergraduate courses. The fourth report is totals for undergraduate upper division courses. And the fifth
report is totals for undergraduate lower division courses.
