Representative duties/activities

     Prepares media, reagents, and solutions for group members

     Maintains filing and accounting system for resource usage
     Orders supplies and maintains lab equipment
     Performs basic water chemistry analyses of lake, ground water wells and meteorological stations in
      the field
     Runs and maintains the field equipment (trucks, ATVs, pumps, meters, data loggers and electronic
      monitoring equipment)
     Processes water samples for chemical analysis and submitting to analytical labs.
     Water and observe plants for insect infestation and report observations to supervisor
     Maintains plant materials for teaching and assist staff and students in horticultural matters
     Prepares equipment, glassware, solutions, and specimens used in student labs
     Assists with class demonstrations, preparation of cultures, and development of trials for new lab
      exercises

   Ensures lab compliance with WHMIS regulations, and safety in dealing with Biohazard and Radiation
    materials
   Maintains lab inventories and places orders to maintain stock levels
   Carries out experiments designed by the primary Investigator and collects, interprets results in
    preparation for dissemination to peer group publications and at scientific conferences
   Designs and carries out experiments, collects, interprets and presents data at lab meetings
   Provides technical support for a lab component of a multi-section course in molecular genetic and
    heredity
   Sets up weekly student labs that include preparation of media and reagents, stock maintenance of
    bacteria, yeast, fungi cultures, and histological slides
   Collects, preserves, and stores plant and animal materials used as specimens, exhibits and/or in
    exams
