public. Fees are set at the level that makes them affordable to as many people as
possible. Our financial assistance policy enables the YMCA to assist individuals
who want to participate but cannot afford the entire fee. Stop in, call or visit the
YMCA on the web at www.ymcade.org for more info.

Being healthy means more than simply being physically active; it’s maintaining a balanced spirit, mind and body. At the Y you can work toward
that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, fostering connections with friends in our lifelong learning programs, or bringing
your loved ones together through our family-centered activities. At the Y, it’s not the activity you choose but the benefits of living healthier all
around.

family Time . . .
enJoy Being TogeTher
Serving families has always been at the heart of the Y. We have a fundamental desire to
provide opportunities for every family to build stronger bonds, achieve greater work/life
balance, and become more engaged with their communities.

We’ve added new family programs this fall including family movie nights (page 25) and
family Zumba® classes (page 21).
We’re looking for suggestions for winter family programming.

Build a healThy family home
At the Y, we understand that health begins at home and we support
families in their efforts to build the five pillars that support a healthy
family home: EAT HEALTHY, PLAY EVERY DAY, GET TOGETHER, GO
OUTSIDE and SLEEP WELL.

Every family can be a healthy family. By focusing your family’s efforts to
live healthier around the Y’s pillars of a healthy family home and taking
small steps using the information and tools we provide, your family will
soon be feeling stronger and living healthier.

Play eVery day
It is not uncommon for children to become less active when they are
off from school for the summer. Help your kids maintain a healthy
lifestyle by ensuring that they challenge their bodies through physical
activity all year long. Schedule playtime for your family each day this
summer. Get out of doors as often as possible and enjoy time together
while being physically active. If your family takes a vacation this
month, plan for activities that get everyone outside and their hearts

YMCA Water Fitness encourages people of all ages to use the buoyant qualities of water to enhance their physical fitness through exercises.
Water can make some movements possible that would be very difficult on land. It’s an ideal form of exercise for all ages and increases physical
strength and endurance without putting stress and strain on joints, as in land-based exercise. Swimmers and nonswimmers alike can take part
in this type of exercise to reduce emotional stress and tension, improve health and physical appearance, and encourage and improve feelings of
 well-being and self-esteem.

 healthier kids, a brighter future
The Y helps youth learn about being active and developing healthy habits they’ll carry
with them throughout their lives. The benefits are far greater than just physical health.
Children gain confidence and build positive relationships by participating in programs at
 the Y.

Children at the City of Wilmington’s Foster Brown Pool make a splash as they gain
valuable water safety skills through our donor-sponsored Water Wise program.
This summer over 800 youth from the City of Wilmington will participate in Water Wise.
