Exhalation Port Test

 Analyzes leak rate of exhalation port

 If successful – the value of “Pt. Leak” will

be displayed

 If unsuccessful – “Tot. Leak” will be

displayed

 EPT must be performed when using the

Plateau Exhalation Valve because the leak

is significantly different than the port or

swivel.

 6 ml inspired volume detected

 Patient flow exceeds the shape signal (a

shadow of the flow signal delayed by 300 ms)

 Only patient (flow) triggered breaths are

flow cycled (PS).

 Time triggered breaths are time cycled

according to the set Inspiratory Time.

 A 3 sec maximum IPAP time has occurred

 Flow cycled

 Flow reversal detected

 Patient flow is less than signal flow

 Spontaneous Expiratory Threshold achieved –

another way to flow cycle
