New Book Explores Life Love from Perspective of Black American Collection of Poems, Essays Addresses Author's Personal Relationship in Context of the Black Struggle They say that if you write about events in your life that are beyond your control ... it helps to make them bearable," Malik Aziz writes in the foreword to his new book. "Well, I wrote this brief piece about the one thing I could not control ... my love for Naderge." In "From the heart of a conscious soul: My Love for Naderge" (published by AuthorHouse http://www.authorhouse.com/), Aziz presents poems that were written and exchanged during his relationship with a woman named Naderge (pronounced "Nadash"). These poems are further examined by a series of essays that, according to Aziz, speak to "the attempt and ultimate failure of a politically and culturally conscious Black American trying to build a bridge between two worlds: the world of building a meaningful relationship in the context of 'Americanism' and building a relationship in the context of the Black struggle." Offering a deeper look into the ills and solutions surrounding relationships, From the heart of a conscious soul is nevertheless a story of romance. The following excerpt from "A Poem for Naderge" speaks to the level of adoration Aziz held for Naderge during their time together: Dressed in Purple and Gold, the colors of her royalty In front of her every step, the pedals of red roses Behind her, the bodyguard of the heavens, as she approaches her throne Time stops as she pauses On this day, the planets line up perfectly, hoping to steal a glimpse Shouts run thru the corridor of expectations The Queen is coming! The Queen is coming! The book also includes brief essays on women in history that Aziz "offers to Naderge as a gift to the strength of womanhood and adoration. It then tails into a historical analysis of the "Black Family structure, what has caused its current dysfunction, what ails it, and solutions to correct the problems and right the course." An MBA candidate at the University of Miami, Malik Aziz holds a bachelor's degree in African history from Northeastern Illinois University. He is the co-founder of The Darfur 23, founder of All Afro-Centric People Organization and Black Think Tank for Liberation, and has served in leadership roles for a variety of other organizations. He has conducted political travels and speeches on behalf of the Black Liberation Movement to Ghana, Morocco, Egypt, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, France and 43 states in the U.S. "From the heart of a conscious soul: My Love for Naderge" is Aziz's first book, although he is currently at work on his second, "Six Months to Black Consciousness."
