Dear Parent:
I am delighted that your child is in my Principles of Human Services class this year. With your
encouragement, your child will participate in and enjoy many exciting and rewarding experiences this year.
SUPPLY FEE: $30 per year payable by cash or check during the first six weeks of class. (Please make check
payable to MDJH.) This money covers various sewing and craft supplies such as needles, scissors, patterns,
sewing machine repairs, pins, craft/art supplies, polyfil for pillows and food for labs.
GRADING POLICY: 15% Homework; 30 Daily/Quizzes; 55% Projects/Tests
Projects will be graded on work completed daily. At the end of the project a project grade will be given
on quality of work. Work will be expected on the due date. Sufficient time is allowed so that one or
two days of absence should not make a project late. I am here every afternoon until 3:10 if your student
falls behind and needs to catch up on work.
CLASS POLICY: In addition to complying with the McDonald JHS Discipline Plan, these are my expectations
for students in class:
Follow Directions
Be in your seat with supplies ready for use when bell rings
Raise your hand to speak or for permission to leave your seat
Keep hands, feet, objects and discourteous remarks to yourself
Show respect to fellow students, guests, and the teacher at all times
DISCIPLINE CONSEQUENCES: Kept daily. Detentions on Tuesdays and Thursdays
1st offense Warning

2 offense 30 minute after school detention. Parent notified. Discipline record kept.
3rd offense 45 minute after school detention. Parent notified. Discipline record kept. Student
receives an “N” in conduct
4th offense Office referral. Discipline record kept. Students receives a “U” in conduct.
SEVERE CLAUSE: Fighting, vandalism, defying a teacher, or stopping the rest of the class from functioning:
Immediately sent to principal and discipline record kept.
Please pay particular attention in the student handbook to the requirement for restitution. Students will be
working with expensive equipment. They will be responsible for replacement cost of any item they
break or damage through improper use, vandalism or carelessness.
Finally, I want you to know that one of my goals this year is to keep the line of communication open with you.
