Secretary Notes: Officers meeting January 11, 2007

2. Selection of Trustees
A. Officers agreed to ask the following if they would like to be trustees: Hugh
Symonds (agreed) Lynn Halsey will ask John Nagro, Hal Scaff & Lisa Chapman.
with Liz MacEloy as a back up
3. Treasurers Report
A. After paying the annual insurance premiums, the checking account balance is
low and we authorized $3000.00 to be moved to the checking account for
miscellaneous expenses. Dorothy McCann the treasurer will do so.
B. Dorothy will also talk to the accountant to determine our mandates for charitable
contributions so we maintain our status as a non-profit organization.
4. Secretary’s Report
A. It was decided the secretary (Anne Quinn) shall pick up the mail once a month
& open all correspondance, then distribute appropriately.
B. A membership renewal & donation request will go out mid-February. Anne will
get a letter together for officer approval.
C. The newsletter will be posted on the website.
D. Extra tags will now be $7 each since our cost for the tags has increased.
E. We plan to run an announcement in the Thumbnail about membership renewal,
visit our website, and what we are up to. Hugh Symonds will write something up.
5. Upcoming programs
A. Barbara D’Asaro will contact Spring Valley Hounds to see if we can make a
deal with them to clear our trails 3x year instead of 2x (for the hunter paces) if we
promise to clean up after each hunter pace. The clean up is an issue the homeowners
have been complaining about after each hunter pace and trail clearing continues to be a
complaint of many members.
B. Bomb proof your horse clinic Saturday May 12, raindate May 19.
Lynn Salerno & Ingrid Olsen have secured the Morris County Mounted Horse
Police to come & teach a clinic for free. We will charge for the clinic & all proceeds will
benefit the Morris County Mounted Police. Mare Olsen will secure the date with the
town & call our insurance company with appropriate notice.
C. Fun/Dressage show date to be determined. September?
D. Newsletter: all executive committee members will provide Mare/Ingrid with a
short biography for the newsletter. Lynn Halsey will write about trail etiquette. Ingrid
will research local fire drills in local boarding barns, as a preventive measure. Barbara
D’Asaro will write an article about her decades riding on our trails.
E. Barbara D’Asaro will be our “trail mistress” for new members to learn the
F. Planning Board Moniter Hugh Symonds has taken the eagle scout map &
program to see if he can work with it to help us research exactly what easements
we have in town Hugh will also attend as many planning board meetings as
possible & ask for help as needed. Ingrid & Mare will check with Kathy Young about
a title search for easements (if possible)
G. Footing in Augustino’s ring for the showgrounds. We are looking for
suggestions on how to do this.
H. Next meeting March 22, open to all members at the New Vernon Fire house
Lynn Halsey will get the date ok’d by the Fire house.
