Maritime Climate:
Climate that is impacted by large bodies
of water
Land and water heat/cool at different
rates
In the winter the water cools slower then
the land and therefore areas close to
large bodies of water in the winter tend
to be warmer in temperature
In the summer the water takes longer to
warm up then the land, therefore areas
that are close to water in the summer
tend to be cooler in temperature
There is often more precipitation (rain or
snow) because the air absorbs
evaporated water from large water
bodies and then it falls on the land.
