Day

All good quality items are welcomed,

including cakes and plants

(although not videos or shoes, or clothes except scarves)

Contact Maria if you need items picking up, or want to help

We use Lee Manor School’s community room for lots of or events; in

return, in the true style of Time Banking they ask us to help cultivate

their small garden and help clear the playground’s flower pots and tubs.

Will you come along to help? You will recall the school has been used

for our Christmas party, cooking and jewellery club and also drawing

club and Tai Chi. Hopefully those of you who have gained from its use

will come along to help. Thursday afternoons from 3.15

in the main entrance on Leahurst Road. Go to reception and ask for the

environment club.

In conjunction with the Lee Senior Citizen’s Social Club, we are

offering you the chance to get fit!

This class caters for all ages but is primarily geared so that the less

agile can join in

plus community members at the Gentle Exercise class





Alice is one of our members who go to the gentle exercise class, this is what

she has to say:

‘I enjoy the exercise class very much, I find it is energetic enough but not too

strenuous. Sandra the trainer is good, I judge this on:

I do work up a sweat (or perspiration) but no bad aches and pains after’

We also get lots of water during the session and fruit to follow’.

New Horizons have set up regular job clubs in four libraries. They give Lewisham

residents training, advice and support with getting work. Regular sessions at:

Bike and Kite Fair

In June, Blackheath came alive with a free festival of bikes

and kites of all shapes and sizes.



The south east London festival featured kite displays,

professional and amateur competitions, bike displays and

fun activities including BMX racing, art workshops and bike

Everyone is welcome, come along to this exciting fun packed event. A great day out for all the

family, young or old there is something for you. Can you sing, dance or play an instrument? If so

come and participate in our free talent contest. Or just come along and listen to the programme of

entertainment we have lined up for you, great music featuring local choirs and musicians,

comedians Richard Blackwood and Slim to take away those recession blues. Alan Charles - Dub

Poetry and rapping plus Alive Theatre Group will perform a puppet show on stopping gun & knife

crime.



The children will have great fun on our Bouncy Castles or they can try some arts & crafts, make a

kite and then watch our Pathfinders drumming display. Activities for the under fives and

parachute games.

There is a mini football tournament, come and sign up on the day, registration is between 11am -

12pm.

Meet at Manor House Gardens café @ 11.00am to leave by 11.10am where each walk

starts, unless otherwise stated.



Monday June 6th



Blackheath past and present,

We will be going past Morden College to Kidbrooke Park Road and a different route

back into Blackheath for lunch.



Monday June 13th



City Walk West

Meet at Hither Green Station at 11.20am for the 11.28am to arrive at Cannon Street at

11.49am. Please bring a picnic lunch for this walk



Monday June 20th



Walk to Greenwich Park

This walk will be extended to the University Visitors centre where we will have a picnic

lunch in the grounds.



Monday June 27th

Barnehurst Walk (TBC)



We will get a train from Blackheath station @11.34am to arrive at Barnehurst Station @

11.51am.

The walk start will start at Barnehurst Station , where we will do a walk which has been risk

assessed by Paul and Claire,



Please note for all the walks above if we have rain they will be aborted and we will stick

to local walking routes.

Saturday May 28th 12 noon to 3pm by the Malyons entrance near the Corkscrew Bridge

Join the celebrations at Ladywell Fields where there are new walking routes, access to

the River Ravensbourne a new adventure playground and sports courts.

Paul will be leading a walk called A Tale of Two Parks which will start at

The Lee Centre 1 Aislibie Road which is near Manor House Gardens Charles will also be

opening the Ice house for us.

The time for this walk is 11.30am to 12.30am where afterwards there will be free tea and

cakes back at the Lee Centre.
