,Looking over the newsletters below, you may wonder if this is one of those

want it to be web-safe, that is). How do you narrow that down to just 4-6

can‘t say: use red, black, and tan and your readers will love it. Rather,
you‘ll need to take into consideration both your subject matter and your
audience. In general, men tend to prefer primary and secondary colors (like

the newsletters and describe why you do or do not like each newsletter.,TEST

Newsletter?‖,,Some companies are dealing in market places where there are
very few customers. For example if you are selling golf course designs or you
construct airfields, you have only a limited number of customers and they‘re
scattered around the world. One advantage you now have is that the Internet
is superb for making contacts. Provided your company is adequately visible
with the search engines, then prospective clients in their searches may well
find your website and get in touch with you.Of course if your customers are
rare, then it may take more effort to make sure that they find you. One way
of improving your company‘s visibility with the search engines is to add a
Slog to your website. Ais defined as follows:A Site or website log, which
is a section or ‗slice‘ of a regular business website. It is produced by
blogging software and includes date/time stamped entries or posts.,Typically
these posts cover new developments by the company or news items of interest
to the company‘s customers and other stakeholders.,Such a Slog will not only
provide up-to-the-minute news items for your prospects but gives increased
visibility with the search engines. Even if your potential customers are rare,
you will increase your chances of being found.,Speaking about rare customers,
that brings to mind a company that is featured in the Montreal Gazette Business
Section today. It‘s the brainchild ofJoe and Jazz Poulinand it is called.
If you‘re looking to rent a luxury villa or charter a luxury yacht or even
buy a luxury real estate property, then they‘re the people to contact. In
seven years they‘ve grown a company of 80 people situated around the world
and they have about 1,400 luxury villas on the books. The top of the line
is Necker Island shown above, which is owned by Richard Branson of the Virgin
Group, and goes for up to $ 45,500 a day.The luxury rental market is highly
competitive so it‘s tough to be visible. However Luxury Retreats
International seems to be doing very well despite that. Perhaps a Slog might
help them to find even more of those rare customers for their fine luxury
villas and luxury yachts.Add to|||Bookmark WebProNews:Barry Welford,

Marketing strategy and action plans to grow their companies. He is a moderator

the Mobile Web in three blogsand.,,What are you doing today that is better
and different to your competitors? How do you find and attract new clients? If
you are not doing anything that differentiates you from the competition, you
could be losing out on a huge amount of potential business. One of the easiest
methods to differentiate your practice/organisation is to embrace
technology. It is easy and can save you time, money and headaches. Let‘s take
a look at the latest technology and what it can do for you:Digital Recorders-
are now tiny and can store up to 44 hours of professional recording. Once
you have completed a meeting with a client, dictate the notes into the recorder
connect it to your computer and download the sound file. This can then be
used as a dictating machine and the information typed or prior to your next
meeting with this client, just take a listen to the recording on your computer.
I have also used the digital recorder to record client testimonials and put
these on my website, record interviews with business leaders on leadership
and entrepreneurship and shared these with my existing clients and recorded
my new book for transcription.Voice Recognition– I first used voice
recognition software 5 years ago and with my accent, I would dictate in English
and it would transcribe in gobbledygook. Now with the latest recognition
(Dragon 8 Professional) I can put on my headset, speak at a fast pace and
it will type automatically into Microsoft word at about 95% accuracy. The
biggest secret with voice recognition is that you need to take some tome to
train the software to your accent and jargon. You can even use it to answer
your email. Best of all, you can link your digital recorder with the voice
recognition. Imagine dictating into your digital recorder, linking to your
computer and then just sitting back watching as the recorder downloads the
sound files. This automatically links with the voice recognition, opens it
and transcribes into word. How much time and money could you save (don‘t let
your secretary read this)? You now have the time for that extra game of golf
(called marketing).Card scanners– We all need to be constantly attending
networking meetings to meet new potential clients. We normally return with
a mountain of business cards that we hope to input into the database but never
get around to doing. The latest Cardscanners are tiny and can scan with 100%
accuracy and then export to outlook or whatever database you use. The secret
with networking is to get in touch with these new contacts as soon as possible.
Take a look atEzines– Develop a 10 touch plan for all your existing clients
(making contact at least 10 times a year). You can email, phone them, meet
face to face or the easiest way is to have a newsletter. Whether it is a hard
copy or online newsletter, this is a great way to keep in touch. I useto produce
my online newsletter. It comes with templates and is simple enough for anyone
to use. It also gives me exact statistics on who opens the mail, unsubscribes
(no more free lunches for them) the click through rate to my website and plenty
more.Marketing with Articles- The easiest and most inexpensive method to get,
expose and build your brand is by marketing with articles. We‘re living in
the information age and everyone is looking for free information on the
internet. How much free information are you putting on your website to attract
potential clients (you must encourage them to sign up for your Ezine when
they download the information). You can also submit these articles to article
directories (Contact me at frank@ for information on software programmes that
can automate this for you). When people download them and put these onto their
sites, this now creates links back to your website which in turn ranks higher
on the search engines.Headlines– How do you convert casual readers of your
marketing brochures and websites without pulling your hair out with the
time-sucking chore of producing a winning headline? I discovered a great piece
of software that automates the process for you, take a look at. The easiest
way to use technology wisely is to make use of the useful software at our
disposal.Websites– Gone are the days when websites were about flashing logos
and animations. Of course, good design still counts for a lot, but good design
is really about making your site easy and effective, a standard tool for
increasing your business, improving service and reducing costs. Flash movies,
cute though they are, hardly achieve this. I have found from experience that
there are three different types of people involved with developing websites
– the first can design efficient and effective good looking sites – the second
has marketing experience and can turn the website into a marketing mechanism
to attract new clients and the third knows how to get your website seen. Rarely
is it the same person that can do all of these. You can have the best website
in the world, but if no-one sees it you are just throwing away money. Also,
remember to make it easy for people to contact you so that within two clicks
they can get any information they need.Blogs- What are these weird things
called blogs? A Blog or Web LOG is a journal kept on the internet. This journal
is often updated daily and contains all information that the person
maintaining the BLOG (Blogger) wishes to share with the world. Also applies
to websites dedicated to a particular topic and being updated with the latest
news, views and trends. This is perfect for any professional practice. Set
up your own blog for free atVideomail– How would you like it if you have a
meeting with an important client and can send him an immediate email with
a small video thanking him for the meeting or highlighting what was covered?
Once again, with no technology experience anyone can do this in minutes.
Remember, in this information age clients appreciate instant response and
something that differentiates you from your competitors. I address and
consult with CEOs in 47 countries and they like to do business with innovative,
forward thinking partners.Video and Audio on the web– there is so much
software that allows almost anyone to add audio and video to websites. My
favourite is a piece of software called Camtasia. Teaching and demonstrating
visually is much more powerful than using words alone. But, getting the right
group of people together for a training or demonstration can be expensive
and inconvenient. Camtasia Studio lets you easily create compelling training
and presentations for Web and CD-ROM delivery and you can do it without ever
leaving your office. It is the only product versatile enough to record live
PowerPoint presentations, personalized technical training sessions, and rich
software demonstrations. Just think of all the applications:Explaining how
to complete a difficult form or paperwork,Demonstrating your latest products
or services,A live PowerPoint recording with voice (at least you can hit the
stop button if this is too boring),Having a Frequently Asked Questions section
of your website where clients can watch videos of complicated questions….and
plenty moreCD Brochures –What happens when you get sent a brochure? I know
that 90% of the time mine goes straight into the bin and some company has
spent thousands producing these. What about rather sending an interactive
CD to clients which could
include:Video,Audio,Testimonials,Brochures,Contracts (and videos to
explain how to complete them),Meet the team,Client List (and plenty
more)These cost less than full colour brochures and normally will be passed
from person to person to watch. We‘re living in a multimedia society, so give
clients the choice.Infomercials– A couple of years ago, it would cost a small
fortune to go to television studios to make a professional infomercial. Now
you can use software like ‗Serious Magic‘ to produce professional
infomercials at your office for minimal cost. When could you use these:To
explain the implications of the budget,Inheritance tax,Planning (and the list
continues)I send my Ezine subscribers a short 30 second marketing video mail
each week using this software. It differentiates me from my competitors and
adds value.Teleseminars and webinars– How about having a teleseminar or
webinars for your clients once a quarter. They dial a number that you send
them in advance and you can then present a one hour teleseminar from the
comfort of your office and they can phone in from anywhere. You can even have
a Q & A session at the end of the seminar, once again adding value. Your clients
can choose whether to partake or not.Free International Telephoning– If you
are using broadband, you can downloadwhich will allow you to telephone anyone
else with broadband anywhere in the world for FREE (I love that word). You
can also have a conference call with three other people. I recently conducted
a conference call for two hours from my office in London with CEOs in Dubai,
Indonesia and Hong Kong, all for free. Calls can also be recorded. Even better,
if you both have a webcam you can also see each other.Resources- Take a look
at my resources page with free downloads, videos and Ebooks that demonstrate
some of the concepts that I have covered in the article atAdd to|||Bookmark

month, I always get a few people who say to me, ―You know, publishing an e-zine
sounds great, but I just don‘t think I have the time to do it on an ongoing
basis.‖ Or, ―I‘m not sure if I‘ll have enough content to publish an e-zine.‖If
this is your case, you may want to consider one of these e-zine alternatives.
These can still help you achieve your goal of establishing credibility,
staying in touch with your prospects, and capturing your Web site visitors. For
the first two alternatives, you‘ll need an e-mail autoresponder. This is like
a fax-on-demand system that sends out e-mails automatically when others
request them. The great thing about autoresponders is that you can preset the
timing of a series ahead of time. For example, you can schedule message 1
to go out immediately once a person signs up for the list. Message 2 could
follow two weeks later. Message 3 would follow two weeks after that. Get the
idea?ALTERNATIVE 1: THE ―EVERGREEN‖ NEWSLETTERIf you don‘t foresee yourself
writing fresh new content every week or month that you publish, why not make
your newsletter ―evergreen?‖This means that you write all your content ahead
of time, and none of it can be time-sensitive. That is, it should be just
as relevant today as it would be a year from now.Evergreen e-zines are
brilliant and easy to do. Here‘s how it works: Suppose you want to publish
a short tip every two weeks. That means you‘d have to write 26 issues for
a year. Once you had this content written, you‘d just set up the messages
on your autoresponder and tell it when you want them sent out. (For this
example, it would be day 1, day 14, day 28, etc. – each reader would get a
message every two weeks.)Internet marketing expert James Maduk does this.
He offers an evergreen e-zine called ―52 Secrets My Mom Never Told Me About
Internet Marketing.‖ When you sign up, you get one secret a week, which adds
up to a whole year. Very effective! (You can see what I mean and sign up at
. I signed up about 10 weeks ago, so I‘m on secret 10. But if you sign up
today, you‘ll start on secret 1. (See how easy this is?)ALTERNATIVE 2: THE
MINI E-MAIL COURSE OR REPORTThese are very popular right now. You simply
create several e-mails‘ worth of content to spread out over a certain amount
of days, and set them up on your autoresponder. Many sites offer 7-day courses
or reports, and quite frankly, many of them are awful. So here‘s a chance
for YOU to stand out. Make sure yours offers really useful or interesting
content that‘s more helpful than salesy. For example, say you‘re a small
business coach. You could offer a course called ―5 Ways Hiring a Coach Will
Make This Your Most PROFITABLE Year Ever!‖ Just sit down and list the 5 ways,
then write a few paragraphs of copy under each. Then write one final sales
message that you‘ll add on to the end of the series as the 6th message. This
should be a friendly invitation encouraging the reader to call you for a
consultation, buy your book, sign up for your workshop, etc.Paste all the
messages into an autoresponder series, set the timing to what you want (e.g.
every day or every few days), and voila — you‘ve got an e-mail
course!ALTERNATIVE 3: PROMOTIONS ONLYIf you offer products on your site that
don‘t lend themselves well to creating related content, just offer what you‘ve
got!Give your visitors the chance to receive special offers that will save
them money at your site. The trick to high sign-up rates is to make them feel
as if they‘ll be part of an exclusive group. Use words like ―special,
exclusive, limited, VIP, first looks, discounts, savings, club, and
members-only.‖For example, one site that I frequent sells discounted designer
clothes. During my last visit, they invited me to sign up for ―discounts,
exclusive offers, and first looks.‖ I jumped at the opportunity!Don‘t
underestimate your visitors‘ interest – many of them WILL sign up for e-mail
offers if you politely extend the invitation and make them feel special.Just
make sure not to overdo your messages to this crowd. Keep your blasts to a
maximum of once a week. Otherwise your readers will get irritated and may
unsubscribe.(c) 2003 Alexandria K. BrownAlexandria K. Brown, ―The E-zine

you would probably agree that local is one of the biggest trends on the web
these days, fueled by a variety of factors: increased mobile and smartphone
usage, localized deals services (like Groupon), and of course search. Local
is a major focus of Google right now, as evidenced by an increasing number
of local results being returned for queries, as well as products like Google
Places, Hotpot and Google Offers.Much of this trend has been based upon B2C
offerings, however, and where B2C trends occur, B2B trends tend to follow.
It‘s happened with email, social media, and will likely come around again
full circle with local and even local email. It‘s all about the next Groupon
or "the Groupon of…fill in the blank" these days, it seems. Google
and Facebook, for example, have products on the way likeandthat could rival
Groupon in the niche of localized deals and group buying.Everywhere you look,
you see Groupon clones or some niche variation on the concept. For instance,
you‘ve got:- "",- "",- "",- "",-
"",- "",- "",- Etc.,- Etc.,- Etc.Groupon is
about group buying, but even more so, it‘s about localized content and email
marketing. How do I know what Groupon offer is available in my area every
day? I get an email from Groupon letting me know, and I know it‘s personalized
to me based on geography, which makes it much more likely to be something
I‘ll actually use, than if it were something available to all Groupon
customers around the world. Now apply that concept on a B2B (that‘s
business-to-business) level – perhaps an office supplies vendor, a business
that cleans uniforms. In fact, you can apply it to B2C businesses as well,
because the businesses have employees, and they‘re all consumers.B2B works
for consumer-facing businesses too. A restaurant, for example, could offer
a business a way to give their employees discounts on meals, or a golf club
or gym could do the same with discounted memberships. In fact, the concept
works even for national brands (which could spend a lot of money with such
a service) that have local locations. Much of the appeal of local is on the
consumer side anyway. A consumer (or business on the receiving end) is likely
to feel a deal is more personalized to them as long as the local angle is
there (this is an area Groupon could improve upon itself, by the way).Email
marketing works for B2B. It stands to reason that local email marketing, of
the sort Groupon caters to, would work extremely well for small and local
businesses. It also stands to reason that we‘ll see more startups looking
to fill this void in the Groupon-mania induced gold rush of 2011.Expect to
see more "The Groupon of…" verticals aimed at local businesses.
Groupon calls itself the "savior for small business". There‘s room
for such a savior for local B2B business too, which isn‘t the kind of business
you normally see in your daily Groupon emails., I know that 90% of the time
mine goes straight into the bin and some company has spent thousands producing
these, I discovered a great piece of software that automates the process for
