~First Friends of Harrington Park~

A nondenominational playgroup for children and their caregivers sponsored by St. Andrew’s & The Town of Harrington Park.

 Something fun for the little ones! Right here in Harrington Park. No more traveling far away for your little one to play. Introducing "First

Friends" sponsored by St. Andrew's and the Town of Harrington Park. First Friends is a nondenominational playgroup attended by babies,

toddlers, and pre-school aged children along with their caregivers (moms, dads, grandparents, babysitters, nannies, etc.). The Goal of First

Friends is for children to form friendships within their age group and to promote new friendships among their caregivers. Groups are formed

by age according to NJ school enrollment guidelines (October 1-September 30). Our goal is to form six groups; 0-6 months, 6 months-1 year,

1-2 years, 2-3 years , 3-4 years, and 4-5 years.

 Children will have nothing but fun for an hour and a half! They'll have open playtime, do crafts, sing, have a snack, and at the very end jump

for joy at parachute time. There will be special age-appropriate events during the year such as Pumpkin Picking and Derby Day (bring your

ride on toy in the middle of winter and have fun scooting all over the place!).

 The group for the 0-6 month olds, will be more caregiver centered and include discussion time about baby-related topics such as teething and

sleep patterns. This group will meet for one hour. Pregnant moms and expectant dads are invited to join this group for free. It's never too

soon to get into baby mode! As parents, we know that having a new baby is a life-changing event and getting out of the house is hard but

join us anyway. You'll get out of the house once a week and start to feel human again. So what if you haven't been able to shower all

week! We're here for you. All you have to do is join. This group is all about support!

 Meetings will end before school is out for the day to facilitate sibling pick up and avoid school traffic. School begins on September 6, 2006.

First Friends will begin meeting on September 18, 2006. Please mail registration forms by September 12, 2006 or as soon as possible. This

will ensure that you are assigned a group. Assignment will be on a first come, first served basis. When groups become full we will make

every effort to split the group into two so that we can accommodate everyone. However, time slots are in short supply. Registration forms are

available at St. Andrew's Church, Town Hall, and the HP Library or by e-mail request at: FirstFriendsHP@aol.com.

 We love all of the current programs for kids in Harrington Park so we’ve tried our best not to conflict our meeting times with theirs. We'll

follow the Harrington Park School Calendar. When school is in session, we meet and when school is closed so are we. This includes weather-

related closings. First Friends has been very successful in surrounding towns such as River Vale and Old Tappan. The friendships formed

by "First Friends" children and caregivers last for years.

 Since this is our first year, we are looking for donations of newer toys, craft supplies, and storage bins. If you have something you'd like to

donate please e-mail FirstFriendsHP@aol.com to make arrangements. The church is interested in acquiring newer furniture so if you have

anything you are getting rid of please let us know.

 Where will we meet?

St. Andrews has generously donated space for First Friends as a service to the entire community. First Friends is a nondenominational

playgroup whose meeting place happens to be in a church. All are welcome to attend.

 When will we meet?

However, a younger sibling may attend an older sibling's group.

If you or your child is feeling sick please remember to stay home and rest up for the following week.

Bring your smile and have some fun with the little one!
