Intro to Art-
Students complete their peer critiques on Monday.
On Tuesday students will view a power point that introduces them to their project which is a pastel
landscape.
Objective- Complete a grid enlargement of photograph and transfer drawing to scale. Identify and blend
colors using pastels.

Crafts-
Students complete peer critique on Monday.
On Tuesday students will view power point on nature inspired batik. Students will then start sketching
designs using nature references to create a wall hanging that is 14’’ by 16’’ or 18’’ by 20’’. All students
must complete the sketch and color and number it before getting their fabric. 4 color minimum.
Objective-understand and demonstrate color mixing, and the batik resist process.

Ceramics
Students complete peer critique on Monday.
On Tuesday students will learn how to wedge and knead clay into a working consistency by recycling it.
Students will be introduced to the processes and techniques of clay by manipulating the surface and
learning how to use it. Their first project is a clay wall pocket. This project will teach them the basic
fundamentals of clay and the slab technique.
Objective- Create a wall pocket that demonstrates the slab technique and surface design (texture).
Provide a solution to hang the wall pocket.
Due Date- Wednesday, September 21
Jewelry
Students complete peer critique on Monday.
On Tuesday students will be introduced to their first project, a pierced metal design. Students can create
a key chain, bracelet, earrings, or money clip. Students will be introduced to the jewelers saw and the
cutting, filing, sanding, and polishing technique. SAFETY ISSUES will be thoroughly discussed and
demonstrated.
Objective- Saw manipulation and design technique.

Drawing and Painting
Students complete peer critique on Monday.
On Tuesday students will be shown a power point that explains what contour drawing. Students will
then practice blind contour, and regular contour on basic shapes like a chair, stool, and rack of scissors.
Students will progress to drawing a shoe, their hand and a found object. This lesson teaches them to
use their eyes to “see” the positive and negative spaces in drawing.
Objective- Use contour drawing to enhance their drawing ability and to train their eye to focus on the
object rather than the paper.
Due Date- Friday, September 21
