TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Appointment: Director of Commissioning, Performance and Strategy,
Children and Young People’s Service.
1 Terms and Conditions - The terms and conditions of appointment will
be in accordance with those laid down nationally by the Joint
Negotiating Committee for Chief Officers of Local Authorities and the
Council's locally agreed Conditions of Service.
2 Salary –The scale for this post is SM3 and the salary is offered is up to
£85,000 per annum.
3 Hours – Full time 36.25 hours per week, however out of hours work is
required in line with the responsibilities of this role.
4 Place of Work – The post holder will be based at Trafford Town Hall,
Talbot Road, M23 0TH or other place of work in the service of the
Authority as required.
5 Holidays - Annual Leave entitlement is 30 days and 8 Public Holidays.
6 Notice - The period of notice on either side will normally be 3 months,
but this can be changed by mutual agreement.
7 Superannuation Benefits – The post is superannuable under the
terms of the Local Government Superannuation Scheme. As a
member of the scheme you will pay a percentage of your pay as a
contribution to the Pension Fund.

The Greater Manchester County Superannuation Fund
administered by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council. Entry
into the scheme is automatic but you may choose instead to make
alternative arrangements, eg. join a private pension scheme.
Notification of a decision to 'opt out' should be made on
appointment.

7 Probationary Period – A six month probation period shall be applied
to all new entrants to Trafford Council.
8 Smoking - The Council operates a policy of 'no smoking'. All staff are
expected to co-operate with this.
9 Car Allowances – This post is eligible for Car Contract Hire (in which
the Council will make a contribution of 85% of hire charges up to a
maximum hire charge of £2,000 per annum). Further details are
available from the Director of Finance.
The post carries essential car user allowance. The national conditions
of service relating to car allowances are applied except that the Council
has determined that lump sum and mileage rates be restricted to the
two lower bands contained in the national Agreement i.e. 451 - 999 c.c.
and 1000 - 1199 c.c. If you have a vehicle falling within either of the
two categories you will be paid according to the appropriate rate, but if
your vehicle exceeds 1199 c.c. allowances will be restricted to the rate
applicable to vehicles within the range 1000 - 1199 c.c.
10 Trade Unions – We have a strong commitment to joint negotiation and
consultation and encourage our employees to join a recognised trade
union.

11 Occupational health – The appointment will be subject to satisfactory
medical clearance by the Occupational Health Unit. You will be
required to complete a confidential medical questionnaire and may be
asked to attend a medical examination.
12 References – The appointment is subject to reference checks
satisfactory to us.
13 Professional registration/qualifications/driving licence – evidence
of your professional registration, qualifications, driving licence etc will
be checked if these are essential requirements of the post.
14 Right to work - You will be required to prove that you have the right to
work in the UK before taking up your appointment.
15 Criminal Records Bureau – This post is subject to an enhanced
Criminal Record Bureau check.
