NOVEMBER ~ ALL SOULS ~ November is the month to remember all the souls of the faithful
departed. Please list the names of your loved ones in our Book of Remembrance. This book will
be placed on the altar during the weekend Masses. You may choose to light a candle in
remembrance as well. We need to continually remember that the dead cannot pray for
themselves. They depend on us and need our prayers. The Easter Candle will be lit to remind us
that the Light of Christ leads us through life to death and to Life in God’s Kingdom.

MONTHLY REMEMBRANCE - The altar wine and hosts have been donated for the month of
November, in honor of the Luigi and Pasqua Pacini Family, living and deceased by Mary
Ann Pacini. If you are interested in donating this memorial in honor of your loved ones, please
call the rectory. The donation for a month is $100.

THE SANCTUARY LAMP for the weeks of October 28 and November 4 is burning for the DiPofi
Family requested by Dolores DiPofi.

IN REMEMBRANCE ~ Please pray for the soul of Nick Natto who died recently. Nick was a
former office volunteer. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT SCRIPTURE? ~ Do you have questions about the
scriptures? Would you like to talk about scripture? We are going to begin a Bible Study Group on
Sunday, December 2 after the 10:00 Mass and will continue each Sunday of Advent. You are
invited to attend this one hour gathering at the rectory. Watch next week’s bulletin for more
details.

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S GOSPEL ~ The final line of today’s Gospel story of Zacchaeus
sums up a main point in all of Saint Luke’s Gospel. “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to
save what was lost”. We all have felt spiritually lost at one time or another .Today’s Gospel tells
us that it was Jesus’ intention to pass through Jericho without stopping, instead He caught sight
of Zacchaeus in the tree. Let this Gospel remind us that the Lord is always catching sight of us.
He’s always wanting to bring us to himself when we are lost.

SHARE IN THE CARE: COLLECTION FOR THE RETIRED RELIGIOUS ~ NOVEMBER 17
~This Annual Appeal is now in its 20th year. It is encouraging to know that the Diocese of
Pittsburgh collected $1,006,961 during the 2006 National Campaign. $905,378 was forwarded to
the National Office, while $100,000 was directed to the escrow account in the diocese for future
retirement needs of aging religious. A little over $1,000 was incurred in expenses to carry out this
Appeal. Historically, younger members of religious institutes cared for elderly members. Stipends
were invested in ministry. Today, the costly health care presents a significant challenge to
institutes whose members have aged and the number of younger members entering religious life
have declined. It is to be pointed out that in the United States religious institutes are managed
separately from diocesan structures. So income for religious today is drawn mostly through
donations and their own fund raising events. Many of us have been educated through the
Catholic School System. Because of this education and the faith development of our parents, we
are in this church today. Once again you have the opportunity to share in this care by being as
generous as your means allow in contributing to the second collection next Sunday. Thank you
for your care.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES FREE HEALTH CLINIC will open its doors on November 5. The Clinic
will open for full medical and dental care for Pittsburgh’s working uninsured. The days of
operation will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday by appointment only. The location is in
the Catholic Charities’ Administration offices in downtown Pittsburgh at 212 Ninth Street. For
more information please call the Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center at 412-456-6911.

RETREAT WEEKEND ~ A Franciscan Retreat weekend will be held for women 18-45 years of
age at Mt. Alvernia from Friday, November 9 through Sunday, November 11. For more
information please call 412-486-3152

                                    Friday lunch!
Our Fish Fry will continue this Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Bring a friend
to lunch! We have a full menu and the special this week for only $5.00 is 1/2
chicken, roasted potato and vegetable.
                                 Come and join us!
