Induction Requirements:



   Complete your BTSA application:
       o  Application form: complete and signed.
       o  Transcript with education coursework.
       o  Credential.
       o  Teaching Performance Assessment, if available.
   Complete the on-line Consent Form at www.btsa.ca.gov. Include the receipt.
   Complete your on-line Contact Card.
   Attend the Orientation.
   Submit the “Participating Teacher Self-Assessment on Induction Standards”
    for the Standards required for your group.
   Complete and submit the session evaluation form.
   Submit the monthly Activity Log(s).

                  Professional Growth Step #1:
            Class, School, District, Community Profile

                         In Year One, the SP should be doing most of the writing.


Induction Requirements:
     Assess your teaching context using the “Class, School, District, Community”
      pages (2-9). If you have your class information and/or English learner
      information in different formats, please feel free to attach those in lieu of
      hand writing the form.
     Marshal your resources using the “Resources” pages (10-11).
     Select your 3 focus students and complete the “Focus Student Selection”
      pages (12-13).
     Reflect on your context using the “Reflection” page (14).

     Complete the activities listed on the “Professional Growth Step #1
      Induction Activities” sheet (page 15-19). Be sure to get a site orientation
      from your Site Administrator or designee and have him/her initial Item 8.
     Plan to attend an “Advice and Assistance” Seminar with your Support
      Provider.
     Submit a completed “Professional Growth Step #1 Feedback Form.”
     Submit your monthly Activity Log(s) in print or electronically (forms
      available on the “Forms” page of the BTSA section at www.ncoe.k12.ca.us).

Creating and Maintaining Effective Learning; Planning and Designing
                 Effective Lessons; Year One IIP

Induction Requirements:

                           In Year One, the SP should be doing most of the writing.

   Schedule and complete an initial observation around CSTP 2 (Form A).
   Discuss the observation evidence and plan a lesson to address issues that surfaced in
    the initial observation (Form B).
   Schedule and hold a second observation (SP should also observe for ELD/SDAIE) and
    post-conference (Forms C and D):
       o Submit your first “ELD/SDAIE Instructional Observation Record.”
       o Plan to attend the “ELD/SDAIE Refresher.”
   Review student progress based on student work from the lesson.
   Reflect on the lesson (Forms E and F).
   Assess your practice on the “Descriptions of Practice” for CSTP 1, 2 and Element 3.1.
   Develop a Year-One Individual Induction Plan (IIP) digitally; include one of the
    classes below in the Action Plan, if appropriate.                E-mail the IIP to
    bstoer@nvusd.k12.ca.us.
   Complete the activities on the “Professional Growth Step #2 Induction Activities”
    sheet, including one health seminar (you’ll get e-mails as these become available) and
    your observation of a colleague using the ELD/SDAIE observation form.
   Submit a completed “Professional Growth Step #2 Feedback Form.”
   Submit your monthly Activity Log(s) (forms available on the Forms page of the BTSA
    section at www.ncoe.k12.ca.us).

                   Assessing Instructional Experiences and
                   Planning and Designing Effective Lessons

Induction Requirements:

                        In Year One, the SP should be doing most of the writing.

   Read page 3, Standard 5 of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession:
    Assessing Learning.
   Review the CSDC from Professional Growth Step #2. Revise as needed and date page
    2 of the CSDC.
   Analyze your student data using the “Students’ Academic Characteristics” (Form A).
   Analyze an assessment you have recently administered.
   Design a lesson to address issues students had not mastered on the first assessment
    (Form C).
   Teach the lesson and be observed (Form D). Support Provider should also observe
    for ELD/SDAIE using the “ELD/SDAIE Observation form.
   Analyze student work samples from the lesson; reflect on the lesson (Form E).
   Develop and administer a second assessment and analyze the results (Form F).
   Reflect on the success of the Assessment Inquiry (Form G).
   Assessing practice using the “Descriptions of Practice” for CSTP 1, 2, Element 3.1 and
    Elements 5.1, 5.3 and 5.4.
   Review the Year-One IIP from Professional Growth Step #2. Date any completed
    actions, add an EL goal, and adjust as needed. Move it forward to Professional Growth
    Step #3.
   Complete the activities listed on the “Professional Growth Step #3 Induction
    Activities” sheet, including the 2 readings and an observation of a colleague using ELD
    or SDAIE strategies. Complete the observation form.

   Submit a completed “Professional Growth Step #3 Feedback Form.”
   Submit your monthly Activity Log(s) (forms available on the Forms page of the BTSA
    section at www.ncoe.k12.ca.us).
   Complete the Mid-year Survey as requested by program leadership.

                        Professional Growth Step # 4:
                Summary of Professional Growth--Year One

Induction Requirements:
 Complete the BTSA Statewide Survey (www.btsa.ca.gov) on-line when requested
    by the BTSA program each spring. Include your receipt.

                         In Year One, the SP should be doing most of the writing.

 Assess your skills in relation to each Element of CSTP Standard 6: Developing
    as a Professional Educator (Descriptions of Practice)
 Review your Induction work throughout the year and re-mark the DOP for CSTP
    1 (holistically), 2 (holistically) and Elements: 3.1, 5.1, 5.3 and 5.4.
   Reflect on your professional growth (Form A).
   Review the IIP now in Professional Growth Step #3. Date any completed
    actions and adjust as needed. Move it forward to Professional Growth Step #4.
   Attend a “Bag Review/Colloquium Preparation” seminar with your Support
    Provider.
   Review the Colloquium prompts and rubric.
   Prepare your Colloquium presentation (Forms B and C).
   Make sure you have completed all Professional Growth Step documents and all
    Induction Activities, including the appropriate evidence.


 Submit a completed “Professional Growth Step #4 Feedback Form.”
 Submit your monthly Activity Log(s) (forms available on the Forms page of the
  BTSA section at www.ncoe.k12.ca.us).
 Complete the BTSA Statewide Survey (www.btsa.ca.gov) on-line when requested
  by the BTSA program each spring. Include your receipt.

         Provider and Site Administrator. Submit to Barb Stoer.

        Use the yellow BTSA timesheet for all BTSA released time
         (16 hours/participant allowed; use for ELD/SDAIE
