With amazing writerly precision, Julienne Busic simultaneously describes, from story to story,
theme to theme, subject to subject, all existing social conditions as well as the ambience in which
they appear, illustrates superbly the characters she writes about, and sketches situations she
holds significant for her narrative. She has introduced a new thesis and a new language, and
imposed it upon the actual and merciless conditions of her existence.
Tomislav Marijan Bilosnic, writer, poet, literary critic, recipient of Croatia's highest awards for
poetry and fiction. Published in "Zadarski List."
Very few books shake a reader to his very soul, and very seldom are they pure works of fiction, as
excellent as those might be. It is also rare that a literary construction moves me. The
aesthetic-poetic effect can be a strong one, but the individual who has learned something from his
own experiences, the power of truth, seeks also in literature credible accounts of such
experiences, tested in the embers of life, temptation, struggle, suffering and faith in love.
Without this fire, without a prose that emerges from deep feeling and suffering, that carries
within it a pulsating, warm human heart, a book cannot transcend itself and its time..after I read
"Your Blood and Mine" - in one breath, I might add - all I could do was sit quietly. I asked
myself what more I could say about it without sounding trite. Only this: amazing, moving,
shattering, brilliant, and at the same time so full of life, so simple, and so devoid of pathetics.
Zoran Vukman, Croatian literary critic and media commentator. Published in "Hrvatsko Slovo".
Your Blood and Mine is one of those rare books for which one can say that it had to be written. A
moving and extraordinary love whose dramatic space is intertwined by the mythical and the
fictional, a love whose reality transcended the physics of separation, political hypocrisy and
human cruelty.it isn't important whether it is a novel, epistolary diary, or autobiography. It is
a beautiful book that moves one to pain (and at the same time inspires), it is wise) because it
teaches about life and all the guarantees it, honest (nothing is hidden or held back), and
addresses the concept of suffering (which leads one to his own humanity), pain (the separation of
two lovers) and the unsuppressed drama deep in the human soul.

be published soon in the Croatian literary journal "Forum".

Adventures with Wink & Blink: A Day in the Life of a Garbage Truck!
Laurel Hill. 2003. 30min. $12.95 (pp). 310-308-4663.
PreS – Gr. 2. This energetic live action program stars two rather odd-looking life-size
imaginary creatures that introduce garbage trucks and recycling to three enthusiastic kids.
The goofy Wink and Blink characters escort the overjoyed trio to a movie theater where they
watch short films dealing with garbage truck manufacturing, garbage collectors’ duties, and
landfill operations. Recycling tips and garbage truck safety are also included. The excitement of the young actors,
who often exclaim, “whoa” and “cool” is contagious. Young truck enthusiasts will especially enjoy this entertaining,
nicely produced video. – By Brian Wilson
