6 Kingdom Magazine Cover Project
Summary: You will research the defining characteristics of the 6 modern kingdoms of classification.
You will create one magazine cover for each of the six (6) kingdoms.
Creating the Cards:
Locate and save an image from the internet that will be the cover of your magazine. The image
should be of an organism from the featured kingdom.
Study the example settings page shown
to the right to help you create your
Magazine Cover.
1. “Choose a file to upload” –
Click “Browse” and navigate to
the image you saved for the
cover.
2. “Choose a layout” – Set to
“Blank Right”
3. “Font” – your choice. Trebuchet
is the default setting and looks
great.
4. “Magazine Title” – Name of the
kingdom.
5. “Tagline” – optional, but should be appropriate to the assignment if used.
6. “Publication Date” – Date due.
7. “Price” - your choice.
8. “Line 2” – Common Name of the organism shown on the cover of the magazine.
9. “Line 4” – What is the cell organization for this kingdom? Is it one-celled or multi-cellular?
10. “Line 5” – Locomotion. Do members of this kingdom move?
11. “Lines 6-8” – Name 3 examples of different organisms that are found in this kingdom.
12. “Line 15” – Give one characteristic true of all members of this kingdom that was not
mentioned in Line 2 or Line 3.
13. “Line 16” – Give one characteristic true of all
members of this kingdom that was not mentioned in
Line 2, Line 3 or Line 15.
14. “All other Lines” – Leave all other lines blank that
have not been designated to this point. See example
magazine cover to the right to help you understand
how the layout will look in the final product.
15. “Color/Shadow/Bold” – The default settings make
a great product. You can change the
color/shadow/bold effects as long as the final
product is clear and easy to read.
16. Repeat steps 1-14 for the remaining kingdoms.
17. Print out all 6 covers. You can print 6 covers
individually OR you can arrange the covers in a word document so that you can print 2 per
page. No more than 2 covers on a page please.
18. Staple all of the covers to this assignment sheet and turn in to your teacher.
19. Extra Credit Option: You can earn 3 points of extra credit for printing the covers in color.
Remember that the public library allows you to print up to 10 color pages a week at no cost!
