Four-round Swiss-System Chess Tournament
Everyone plays four games - nobody is eliminated!
Entry Fee: $20 if received by December 3; $30 at site.
Time Control: Game/30 minutes
Registration: 12:00-12:45; Rounds begin after the games from the previous rounds end, and there
will be a break for players to get lunch between rounds one and two. Soft drinks and snack foods
are available in the playing site and usually pizza slices are sold at the tournament.
We expect the awards ceremony to end at about 6:00 p.m.
PRIZES: Trophies and other awards to top finishers in each section.
1. Players without ratings or with ratings under 1200 may play in the Rated Beginners Open.
The RBO will be divided into five sections so that adults may play teenagers but not
younger children.
2. No membership in any organization other than the U.S. Chess Federation (USCF) is
required. Games are rated by the USCF, so all players must be or become members of the
USCF. Annual dues in the USCF vary based on age and type of membership. Membership
may cost as little as $23 for children and as much as $45 for adults. Call for details or visit
the USCF’s web site at www.uschess.org.
3. No smoking, gambling, drugs or alcohol is permitted in the U.S. Chess Center.
4. The U.S. Chess Center is in a nice part of Washington, D.C., close to the National
Geographic Society and Museum, five blocks from The White House.
5. Players must bring pencils to use to keep score. Please bring chess boards and sets.
