WebQuest- A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented format in which most of the information
that learners work with comes from the web. It was developed by Bernie Dodge, from
San Diego State University in February, 1995. With help from Tom March, and the
Educational Technology staff at San Diego unified school district and participants at the
Teach the Teachers Consortium. WebQuest is a good way to embrace students in
learning and thinking. This can be used in my profession to look up certain topics for
different programs.
Concept Map- A concept map is like a diagram for brainstorming. Using a concept
map you have to have a minimum of ten items. Copying and pasting the concept map to
the Inspirational software to a word processing document helps to eliminate unwanted
information from your page. It’s good to add instructions and a brief explanation to your
map. This can help in my profession because it can help me plan events accordingly
and sufficiently.
Crossword Puzzle- Using a crossword puzzle it’s a minimum of ten word and clues.
Copying and Pasting and clues to a word processor document so you can eliminate the
web information from your page. This is a good thing to use for my day care center for
the preschool children in the morning to do. This is very similar to the Concept Map.
Web 2.0- The concept of Web 2.0 began with a conference brainstorming session
between O’Reilly and Media Live International. Dale Dougherty, web pioneer and
O’Reilly, vice president said that having the web being crashed, the web was more
important than ever. They believe web 2.0 makes sense. Web 2.0 is great for my
profession to keep me organized with my own data. I would be able to control my own
data on Web 2.0. It has the some of the best sites, for example Wikipedia.
Digital Storytelling- Digital Storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools
to tell stories. It focuses on a specific topic and contains a particular point of view.
Digital stories usually contain a mixture of computer-based images, text, recorded audio
narration, video clips and/or music. Daniel Meadows defines storytelling by a personal
story about your life. This can be used on my site for a brief autobiography of myself as
a person.
Virtual Field Trip- This is looking for field trips online and picking out the best one
that fits whatever you are doing. This is an awesome way to keep your students
educated about whatever you are learning. You can get an outside source for students
for so many different subjects and areas. This is great for my day care center at my
recreational center.
Blogs- Using a blog is an awesome way to express your opinion and express yourself
in general. It is usually entries on a person’s commentary, descriptions of events, or
other things such as graphics or videos. It can also be news on a certain subject. Using
a blog can be a good way to get some information out about my recreational center and
about some new events and programs coming out.
MultiMedia- Multi Media can include Powerpoint presentations, commercial software
that is used for reference or instruction, or activities that directly engage students to
construct or convey knowledge. Multi Media can be used for brainstorming, a
spreadsheet or graphing calculator to record data and to produce charts, and much
more. This can be used in my profession for organization and brainstorming.
Podcast- Podcast is a series of digital media files that are released episodically and
downloaded through wed syndication. The term podcasting was first mentioned by Ben
Hammersley in the guardian newspaper in February 2004. This can be used at my
profession by adding music to certain events that are going on that day, daily.
YouTube- YouTube is a video sharing website on which users can upload and share
videos. Three formal PayPal employees created YouTube in February 2005. YouTube
is one of the most popular sites in the world. It’s a great way to get your story out there
or just have fun! You can use YouTube for anything you want to broadcast. I can use
this in my profession by advertising my recreation center.
Wiki- Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web
page content using any Web browser. It supports hyperlinks and had simple text syntax
for creating new pages and crosslinks between internal pages. Wiki is a great way to
update my webpage for my profession in the most best and efficient way possible.
Google Apps- Google Apps is a server from Google for using custom domain names
with several Google products. It features several Web applications with similar
functionality to traditional office suits such as, Gmail, Google Calendar, etc. This keeps
as much storage as Gmail accounts. I can use a Google App for email and the amount
of email I will be having would be a lot but it would work out perfectly because Google
Apps can hold up to 25G of email storage.
Google Docs- Google Docs is a free; Web based word processor, spread sheet,
presentation, form, and data storage application offered by Google. It allows users to
create and edit documents online while collaborating in real time with other users. This
another great thing to use for my profession with spreadsheets for my organization and
Google Docs offers an immense amount of storage in it also.
Snap Polls-Snap polls are a way of getting responses back from your audience. This
interactive tool allows you to ask them any question and provide them with up to six
optional answers. Users simply click the radio button next to the answer of their choice
and click the "vote" button to send the information back to the Content Management
System. This is a great way to find out what people think of my recreational center and
ask them questions about certain things and they give me answers to the questions I
ask.
Survey Champion- with Survey Champion you can create and send your first survey
in a matter of minutes. It’s intuitive, so you can learn it quickly. It’s powerful, so you can
accomplish more in less time. They created Survey Champion to work with humans.
Other survey systems force you to use their templates, limiting survey look and feel.
That’s not the way Survey Champion works. Their technology puts you in control of
layout, alignment, color, text style, and headers. Now you can create surveys ideally
suited to your response groups, which leads to improved response rates and data
quality. This is great to use for my profession to get a good feel for how people feel
about certain issues or events.
RubiStar- RubiStar is a free and easy way for teachers to create rubrics. This is for
teachers who need to make rubrics but do not have time to make them from scratch. .
RubiStar provides generic rubrics that can simply be printed and used for many typical
projects and research assignments. The unique thing about RubiStar, however, is that it
provides these generic rubrics in a format that can be customized. The teacher can
change almost all suggested text in the rubric to make it fit their own project. This is
good for me as a director for organization of events for each week, for my employees to
look at.
