April 2007                       Training on Methods for HIV and AIDS Estimates and Projections, Bangkok,
                                 Thailand. Three-day workshop attended by 4 delegates (DOH, PNAC,
Regional Training Workshop       WHO, and UNAIDS) from the Philippines
June 2007                        Half-day meeting organized by the National Epidemiology Center (NEC) of
                                 the Department of Health (DOH): updates from the Bangkok Workshop;
Reactivation of 2005 Technical   Reactivation of the 2005 TWG; Identification new TWG members. The 13
Working Group (TWG)              TWG members were from the NEC, NASPCP, San Lazaro Hospital, SACCL,
                                 PNAC, UP-CPH, UNAIDS, WHO and NGOs.
September 2007                   Five-day workshop of 38 participants consisting of TWG members, local
                                 experts in the 10 sentinel sites, regional epidemiologists, and facilitated by
MARPs Estimation Workshop        an International consultant.
October 2007                     Three-day meeting of the TWG to finalize the output of MARPs estimation
                                 workshop (agreed to use Workbook Method A and divided the country into
Pre-Consensus Meeting            10 sentinel cities and the rest representing the remaining areas in the
                                 country).
November 2007                    One-day meeting of 50 participants from government and non-
                                 government agencies, bilateral agencies, academe and private citizens who

        UNGASS and UA Reports using the 2007 Integrated HIV Behavioral and
                         Serologic Surveillance (IHBSS) data.
             Philippine HIV Response
                    One National Coordinating Body
     Philippine National AIDS Council (PNAC) – established in 1992 with 26
  multisectoral members chaired by the Secretary of the Department of Health
    (DOH). National AIDS and STI Prevention and Control Program (NASPCP)
                      established in 1988 within the DOH.

                       One National Strategic Plan
4th AIDS Medium Term Plan (AMTP4) – covering 2005-2010 with Costed Annual
      Operational Plan for 2007-2008 ($9.6 million per year). Backed-up with
                Philippine AIDS Law (Republic Act 8504) of 1998.

                       One National M&E System
Passive surveillance (AIDS Registry) established in 1984, and active surveillance
   (behavioral and serologic) started in 1993 within the DOH. M&E framework
 developed in 2003 with UA targets and National M&E Officer instituted in 2006
