Introduction
Most of us know there was a Web 1.0 and there are some who say that we are well on the way
to Web 3.0. So, exactly what is Web 2.0? And, how can it be utilized to enhance learning? After
completing this web quest, you will have gained a better understanding of some of the
applications that make up Web 2.0.
Overarching Essential Question
The main question you will be asked to find an answer for is:
What is Web 2.0 and how can I use some of these applications/tools to enhance learning in
my classroom?
Task
Web 2.0 is ever changing and even the experts cannot know all that it has to offer. Each group
(4-5 members) will research the characteristics of five Web 2.0 applications. You may choose to
divide the applications up and then discuss your findings within your group. Or each member
may explore each of the five applications and compare notes with their group members. A
whole group discussion will take place at the end of the session. Individual groups will
recommend their top Web 2.0 application to the whole group.
The following are the questions that you should consider as you explore each of the Web 2.0
applications:
1. How would you describe the application?
2. How would you use this application in the classroom?
3. What is your overall evaluation of the application?
