Saint Louis
Saint Louis ix was born Poissy, France on April 25, 1215 and died
on August 25, 1270 of dysentry. He was the son of King Louis viii and
Blanche of Castile. He got married at age nineteen, in 1234, to
Marguerite of Provence, with whom he had eleven children- five sons
and six daughters. Louis was twelve years old when his father died on
November 8, 1226. He was crowned king within the month at Reims
cathedral. He had one brother named Charles I of Sicily.
Saint Louis ix built the Sainte-Chapelle. St. Louis is patron of
tertiaries in 1270. Louis IX took very seriously his mission as
"lieutenant of God on Earth." His feastday is August 25. Saint Louis
has a great virtue which was faith. He would always have faith in Jesus
that he would take care of him.
