wines anf fruit juices cooled with ice and snow. Then their was Marco Polo in the 13th century
who brought back to Italy from the Orient recipes for water ices, which were said to have been
eaten in Asia for centuries. Early English settlers in the 1600s introduced ice cream to America
and by the end of the 1700’s the first ice cream parlors appeared in the United States. In 1846,
the invention of the hand-cranked freezers made it possible for ice cream to be made at home.
The diet-conscious person might be interested to know that sherbet contains almost twice as
