Lingerie Laundry Bag
My lace lingerie bag was shredded with holes and was
beyond repair. When considering replicating the bag, it
occurred to me that an embroidered name and a cute
little design would turn this project into a unique gift. My
personal trainer Kelly recently celebrated a birthday so I
made the prototype for her. When you’re short on time
and money, why not make a new laundry bag for a
favorite girlfriend in your life? It’s personalized, practical,
whimsical and easy on the budget. One thing we can be
certain is that it will surely put a smile on her face
whenever she has delicates to launder
SUPPLIES:
13” x 28” piece of lace
One 12” zipper
Assorted Embroidery Threads
Tear away or wash away stabilizer
Embroidery machine, design, font
DIRECTIONS:
1) Determine where you want to place the design. Use a double layer of stabilizer and hoop the
lace piece above the center fold so it is on the front of the finished bag. Embroider design
2) Tear or wash away stabilizers
3) Attach zipper foot , fold short edge over ½” to
inside and stitch on zipper. Repeat on other
side.
4) Fold bag with zipper on top and wrong sides together. Trim sides to line up with zipper ends.
5) Stitch 1/3” seam along sides including zipper selvedge. Trim
6) Turn bag inside out and stitch side seams again
encasing the trimmed seam allowance inside the
new seam. This is a French seam. Be sure to
include the zipper’s edge inside these two seams.
Add delicates and toss in the wash.
TIP: Fasten bra hooks first to reduce tearing and
pulling on the lace during laundering.
