Rippey, Iowa
Rippey, Iowa gus between 1878 and 1887; the last of these was worked
out by 1887. Between 1882 and 1887, the Standard Mine
— City — also operated in the region.[2] Keystone opened new
mines south of Rippey into the 20th century, where they
were joined by the Snake Creek Coal company and the
Buckeye coal company. One mine, with a 125 foot shaft,
was located a short distance from the Rippey railroad sta-
tion.[3]
