Art in the Parks!
Public art is alive and well in Chattanooga…and livening up the parks and public spaces
throughout the city. Current focal points for public art sculptures include the First Street
Pedestrian Walkway, the Riverfront Parkway and e Passage, Renaissance and Coolidge
Parks, and Heritage Park.

Public Art Coordinator Terry Tomasello explains, “By working with the Parks
Department we can match artists and works to a particular area with a greater
understanding of the location’s history, qualities, and flavor”. “Public art prompts
dialogue, brings communities together, and adds a uniquely
human element to our surroundings”.

e newest installation of public art can be seen in Renaissance Park.
Created by southern artists Aaron Hussey and Brad Bourgoyne,
“Ascending Path” commemorates this area’s many historic “crossings”.
