Let‟s hope that this year the bureaus will flourish even more by working together. It is
certainly not easy being in a bureau with all the responsibility, extra time and effort
needed to keep things afloat. But after all, with a bit of respect, honesty, creativity and
determination we can all achieve even more every year! Let‟s all say no tyrannical be-

Deauville in pictures
Privileged access passes, red carpet,
cocktails, movie stars and directors- all in a scenic
seaside town.. it could only mean one thing: the
13th Deauville Asian Film Festival! From the 9th to
the 12th of March; and the students from Le Havre
were extremely privileged to have had the op-
portunity to participate very actively in the film
festival. From the opening ceremony until the
curtains fell on the last day, you would be sure to
catch familiar faces as you wonder around
Deauville. Some courageously volunteered to
speak during the side workshops that covered a
range of topics with a focus on Asia whilst others
participated actively in these workshops, and
hopped from theatre to theatre to catch movies
back to back. Two students, Sara Chatterjee and
Amer Roy Juntado even had the chance to serve
as interpreters for two of the Asian movie pro-
ducers. Needless to say, the film festival was a
simply AMAZING experience, and we are already
counting down to the one next year! Movie
highlights were Udaan, a bittersweet tale re-
counting the journey of a boy as he learns the
hard way to stand on his own two feet and Donor,
a tale of a woman who risks all for a living- in-
cluding donating her kidney. Of course, these are
just my personal favourites and many others
would beg to differ. Check the movies out for
yourself (you might be surprised just what kind of
movies appeals to your senses)
Alas, pictures do express more that what
words can ever aspire to, so enjoy this photo
montage of the week...

“For many of us, it was our first time in Deauville, and it became quite a memorable
trip. Movies and workshops all day, lunch on the beach, coffee at in the afternoon…
We did sleep in a gymnasium, but it was thoroughly compensated by the chance we
had to watch thought-provoking films, and have fun amongst ourselves in the lovely
