1. Terms of Trainee Placement
The company/organisation hereby agrees to provide a trainee placement for the trainee for a
period of 3 months from ____________ to ____________.
During this period, the company/organisation provides a placement that offers the trainee the
opportunity to gain experience with work for which the company/organisation might otherwise
employ a fully qualified MA. This does not mean that traditionally academic work is expected or
that the trainee will only accept certain types of work. It does mean, however, that a working
day dominated by very one-sided or purely routine work (copying, typing, coffee making etc.)
will not be considered acceptable.
The trainee acquires no copyright for any work done.
In principle, a 37 hour week is required but the company/organisation and the trainee may
agree on minor adaptations of working hours.
2. Confidentiality
The trainee may discuss project(s) carried out during the placement with his/her project
supervisor and may use such information as is relevant in his/her examination report at the
end of the trainee programme. If both trainee and company/organisation agree to this, the
examination report may be included in the English Department’s library of examination reports
for the benefit of future students. Other than this, the trainee is bound to confidentiality
regarding projects and his/her work in the company/organisation.
3. Termination of contract
The placement may be terminated by the company/organisation if:
a. within the first four weeks, the company/organisation finds the work or work
attitude of the trainee unsatisfactory
b. the trainee commits a breach of confidentiality
The placement may be terminated by the trainee if:
a. within the first four weeks, the trainee finds the working relationship
unsatisfactory
b. the work offered does not comply with the requirements stated above
Two identical copies of this contract have been drawn up and signed.
