The .Evil Spirits/Demonology
Revelation .12:12 says, "Rejoice then, 0 Heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, a earth and Sea, for the
devil has oome down to you in great wrath, because'he knows that his time is short"
Bishop Manhango says, "When I received the gift of the Holy Spirit in 1952,the evil spirits were also there. The evil
spirits ar~ given various names to include; the spirits of madness, the haunting ghosts etc. In those days, evil spirits
could paralyse those whom they possessed in such a way that the victim failed to eat even porridge. Some of those
possessed could die; some were buried half-dead. There were occasions when the dead bodies produced foam and
tears. Girls and women were the most affected. We exorcised the evil spirits through prayer in Jesus' name. We held
all night prayers services at believer's homes. In the process of being driven out, the evil spirits wept saying, "Why
are you persecuting us; you' are burning us. Our mother has sent us to bring tlie victim to her." This means the evil
spirits were assigned to destroy life
As I have explained in the beginning of the book, the evil spirits once possessed fifty. pupils at Svinurai School in
Chikomba District. Their parents and teachers brought them to me. I prayed for them and the evil spirits left them.
The evil spirits attacks anyone at. any age. It doesn't consider the status of any individual. It can cause destitution,
madness, illness, death and bad luck. It causes hatred and divorce and broken marriages. Those possessed don't
want to bath, Matthew 4:24 shows that only Jesus is able to deliver people from the evil spirits. The Plower to drive
evil spirits was also given to those who believe in Christ Jesus (MK 16: 17)
One day as I was praying I had a vision of evil spirits roaming around the world like swarms of locusts attacking
people, and the people experienced much suffering and pain such that some of them became bedridden. On another
day, I had a vision again. I was driving a span of oxen, which were pulling a sledge with a plough on it. The oxen
moved into a deep donga. They then .started ploughing. Out of the soil they ploughed came out maggots. The oxen
turned out to be men with Bibles preaching the word of God The maggots turned out to be people who were crying
bitterly because of much suffering.

I heard a voice saying, "These people are decomposed as a result of the evil spirits. They are maggots because of
their works. If they listen to the gospel and repent, they will be saved." ,

Many people do suffer as a result of these spirits. It is the responsibility of Christians to preach the gospel to the
world so that people may be saved.
In Matthew 9:37-38, Jesus said to his disciples "The harvest is plentiful, butthe laborers are few; pray therefore the
Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." Caution: Do not rush to drive out ttie evil spirits beforh
you receive power from the Highest God. The evil spirits can be exorcised by those who are in Christ.
B. The Words / Message/ Testimony of the Holy Spirit
In Bethseda Apostolic Church writings, there are prophecies by Bishop Manhango concerning the manifestations of
the evil spirits and how believers can overcome them. The following are some of the many prophecies uttered by
Bishop Manhango:
1. January 1987
I had a vision of people walking into gorges and caves. As they come out, they are weak like chicken, whicf have
been exposed to a lot of rainfall. When the Word of
God is preached to them':'they' were delivered and became filled with joy
The word of the Holy Spirit says, "People experience many problems caused by evil spirits. However, Those who
surrender their lives to Gou are saved, cleansed and will rejoice."
2. 14 April 1987
I see an American musical drum. When one pushes/shakes this drum, small ants come out and they fly all over
the world. The interpretation is "These flying ants are evil spirits. When the evil spirits are active, people suffer,
when they are not active people are relieved." Our victory is in prayer to God.
3. 27 February 1988
I see a rainbow in front of us and I ask the meaning of the vision. This is the power of Satan, which comes to strike
people like lightning. Satan has brought much suffering to the people. Some of the evil spirits look like
frogsjBelievers are to
remain faithful in God at all times and pray. . \
4. 10 October 1989
I have seen a vision. I have been. pulling a rope tied to the horn of an ox in the air.
I moved to the mountaintop and started praying. As I was praying, maggots came out of the horn and they covered
my whole body. f kept on praying and all the maggots fell off my body. At last I had a new body clothed in a white
garment. I then saw multitudes of people covered by maggots. The maggots had fallen down' and people had new

shinning bodies. The interpretation is, we should not 'fear death, but we should die in the Lord.

In' this vision I was in a foreign country, standing near mountain. I heard a voice saying, "Have you ever been out
of your mind?" I an-' swered, "No", I felt myself loosing all my senses. I could neither' reason nor remember anything.
I walked and came to a certain deep-dark pit. Thevoice came to me saying, "Anyone without senses would fall into
the pit and disappear. If anyone sins, he is embraced by darkness by. the evil powers and cannot save himself."
I then saw young children playing'football. I asked them what they were doing and they responded angrily against
me. This surprised me. The interpretation is, "When you sin against God, you are prone to an attack by the evil spirits
similar to how the children have attacked you without reason."
6. 4 October 1990
I have seen a large / pole with a hole on one side. On the other side of the pole, there are people standing. Out of the
whole came out a snake spitting saliva; ready to attack. The saliva did .not reach the people standing near the log.
The snake is the devil. Satan hinders people from worshipping God. Evil spirits disturbs and destroys good works of a
Christian. The advice is, "Stand firm, and praise God in prayer all the time." "Resist the Devil and he will flee. James

7. 17 November 1990
I have seen a big snake moving around us. It had two heads; with the other one at the tail. Underneath it had the
colour and shape of a bark. The snake had strength and could swallow anything close to it. To expose oneself to the
worldly things doesn't save anyone from the snake (Satan). Because the Devil attacks us, there is need to remain in
Christ because we are victors through him.
8. 1 January 1991
As he was on top of the mountain praying with the priests, Bishop Manhango' says, "In the power of the Holy Spirit; I
had a vision of us walking towards a mountain; some of us climbed but others remained. Those who remained on the
ground failed to climb because of the problems and the care of worldly things that oppose the 9Qspel. We passed
through a muddy place signifying human problems. Therefore, those who have faith in God are to be victors.
9. 15 April 1993
As I prayed before the church gathering, I had a vision. I was walking and pickb~ up a broken piece of bold wire. I
picked up another piece of the same wire and started making something out of those two pieces of wire. A friend
showed me other pieces of wire and I made an object similar to a cattle kraal. Inside the object were some Christian
congregations. Then came a large snake moving aroundtrying to find a way to enter in' the kraal. I crushed its head
but it went on fighting!n order to get into the kraal. The voices said to me, "The snake is the Devil, the enemy of God.
He fights the Christians in order to destroy God's work. Those wbo keep God's commandments are victorious."
As I kept on praying, I had another vision of rushing strong winds. The wind was driving a herd of cattle. They were
running at a great speed with a thundering sound. Some collapsed and died.
Again, I saw many people running as they were driven by that strong wind. These people were attacking with military
weapons and money. Some of them were warriors. I then prayed and the wind ceased and all was calm. Then the
voice said to me, "The strong wind represents the power of the evil spirits attacking people. This spirits cause war
amongst races and tribes. People become lovers of money and they are no longer faithful to God. Even the children
rise against their parents." The word of God through Christ destroys the evil spirits.
10. 1 January 1995
THE VISION OF THE BISHOP AS HE PRAYED WITH THE PRIESTS
I have seen a huge beast standing close to you. The beast had power to fight. Then the word said to me, "The beast
is Satan roaring like a lion ready to attack". You should not fear for God takes care of you. If you are doing God's
work, and all Of a sudden, you go against each other; you should know that those are works of the' devil. Forgive
each other and continue God's work in peace and unity; God is with you to the end if you remain faithful and
committed to His cause.
11. 7 May 1999
The Prayer of Bishop Manhango on top of Mount Muzeze in Chiwiriri
I see Christians from different-churches gathered at one assembly. Lightning and thunder has struck and the people
are now frightened and sorrowful. Again; I see a big Lion. It roars and the people are frightened.
The word of God said to me, "Satan is very active on earth and the whole world is full of evil spirits, but those who
believe in Jesus Christ and endure will overpower the evil spirits. "Christians should remain faithful to God until the
last day."
12. 15 April 2002
I see a big Lion moving around the world. It moves to the center position of group of other lions. Then comes
athunderous sound that frightens the lions. The lions run towards the people. The lions represent the evil spirits which
fight Christians. The Word of God in Revelations 12: 17 says, "Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and went
off to make war on the rest of her off-sprlnq, on those who keep the commandments of God and bear testimony to
Jesus, and he stood on the end of the sea."
If you stand firm and proclaim the gospel, you will be victors. Forsake your lives and proclaim the good news of Jesus
Christthe Lamb of God. Revelations 12: 11 says, "And they have conquered him by the blood of the lamb and the
word, of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death."
