wcoARMA wins Region Communications Award!

wcoARMA was honored with the Communications Award for small chapters at the Midwest Rocky Mountain Regional Leadership Conference in July! The MRM Region Chapters review all websites and newsletters, and determine the winner at the Leadership Conference held each summer. Criteria includes Quality of Information & Educational Content (35 points); Timeliness & Relevancy (35 points); and Consistency & Creativity (30 points). Two awards were presented, one for small-tomedium size chapters with fewer than 80 member), and a second one for large chapters with more than 80 members. The Twin Cities Chapter, with 200 members, won the large chapter award this year. Let us know how we can strengthen our communications in the coming year!

26 members & guests were on hand for the May 15th Opening Chapter Meeting at Two Rivers Convention Center in Grand Junction. We adopted Chapter By-Laws, approved the Dues Schedule, and elected Chapter Officers. Sheila Isaacson, Midwest Rocky Mountain Region Manager, conducted the Board Installation (photo below). Trevor Mitchell, ARMA Int Sr. Manager of Member Services, presented the Chapter Charter. Pretty cool to make a little history as the 104th (and newest) ARMA Chapter! book: “Records Mgmt: Making the Transition from Paper to Electronic” by David O. Stephens, CRM. Additionally, we received $500 from our Region managers to help us get started, and a $400 leadership grant from ARMA Int, which allowed our chapter president to attend the Region Leadership Conference in Estes Park in July.

“Topic of the Month” - new website page “In order to ‘get’ Twitter you really have to use it.” J Wilkins

“What Are You Doing? A gentle introduction to Twitter” is our inaugural article of the month, written by none other than Jesse Wilkins, Principal Consultant with Access Sciences Corporation. We’re also proud to claim him as a charter member of wcoARMA. Surely you’ve heard about Twitter, and micro-blogging? A free collaborative webbased tool which allows users to share as well as request information or assistance?? Perhaps you’re already tweeting away, adding to our 3,000,000 tweets per day. Or perhaps you relied on Twitterers during recent events like the Iraq election to keep up with the latest, greatest, and worstest? If not, you may be asking what Twitter is all about, and how can it help you?! Well, lucky you — the answers to these and other questions are in Jesse’s article on our website! He outlines the business case for Twitter as well as the records management aspects (yes, tweets are subject to the Colorado Open Records Act, and discoverable!). As Jesse says, “In order to ‘get Twitter, you really have to use it. … It can be a helpful resource for most people and I encourage everyone reading

Are you a twitterer?

this who has not tried Twitter to give it a chance.”Why not start tweeting and twittering today?!
