Let’s Play Music! Summer Packet

Bridging Yellow Indians to Purple Magic

What a great year we had in Green Turtle Shells and Yellow Indians! Here are some summer activities to help you keep your

skills sharp, and get you ready for Purple Magic in the fall! These songs are all in the Yellow Indians songbook unless

otherwise noted. Because it’s summer and there are lots of things going on, including vacations, etc., I have only listed 6

weeks of practice ideas. If it takes you 2 weeks to get in all 5 days a couple times, or if you miss a week for vacation, just

come back and pick up where you left off. You should still be able to finish all six weeks before we start classes again in the

fall. I have tried to pick songs that will help the students review skills that still need work, or that they can play in new ways

to build even more on what they already know. For reviewing songs that have already been mastered, just play through once

or twice per day; for review of songs that aren’t quite perfect, play at least twice per day; for new material (including songs

they know, but with an added twist), play at least 3 times per day. I have included some free sheet music that they should be

able to sight read somewhat, but may need a little help with, especially at first. For the “choose a favorite song to perfect”

part, this song can be from the book, from the sheet music I provide, or from anywhere. When one song is perfected, move

on to another. I have some terrific prizes to choose from for all those who complete the summer packet. Can’t wait to see

you next fall! -Miss Jenni 
