I have added public keys from other people and generated our own key pair in the previous videos.
And, now, I am going to show you how to send an encrypted message.

Let’s have a look at what happens if I try to encrypt a message right away.

In KMail, I click ‘New’ in order to write a new mail.

And, when I select ‘encrypt, I get the following error message asking me to configure my identity.

Close the composition window and discard the message.

Configuring the identity

Go to Settings > configure KMail

Select your identity and then choose ‘Modify’.

Go to the tab ‘Cryptography’, click ‘change’, select your key, and choose OK.

Repeat the same process so that you can select your encryption key. Finish the configuration with
‘Apply’ and then ‘OK’.

Send an encrypted message

Reopen the window in order to write a new e-mail.
Type your e-mail and click ‘Encrypt’ and ‘sign’. You will see two differents bars showing you the
message will be encrypted and signed.

Click the send button.
A window asks you to confirm the keys are correct.
Choose ‘ok’ to send the encrypted & signed message.

You will be asked to add the person to your address book. Accept it.

Then, type your passphrase in order to access your keys. And, the message is sent.
