How to Sharepoint: Session 1
Sharepoint is a program made by Microsoft and as a result it looks and works better in a
PC environment than a Mac’s. It also looks and works better within Internet Explorer
(from Microsoft) than Mozilla Firefox.
Today we will look at your staff public Sharepoint page. This session will touch on:
Site Actions
Edit Page
Site Settings
View All Site
Content
Site Themes
Site Title
Web Parts
Site Pictures
Rich Text Editor
Navigation
When you have login to your
webpage, you will see the Site Actions tab appears on the upper right side of you page.
There are 3 main areas under Site Actions: Edit Page, Site Settings, and View All Site
Content
1. Edit Page
When you first arrive at your site, make sure you see the Site Actions
tab, click on Edit Page. You should now see 2 columns (left and right)
and see 4 Web Parts. Go to the Web Parts that you want to edit and
click edit, then Modify Shared Web Part. Click on Rich Text Editor
on the right will allow you to edit that Web Part. If you want to put
pictures into your page, you have to first upload them into your Site Pictures folder
under View All Site Content.
2. Site Settings
Under Site Settings, you could change the Title and Theme of your webpage. You
would also manage your Navigation(al) links here.
3. View All Site Content
Under View All Site Content, you can see everything that is under your webpage:
documents, pages you have created, pictures you have added, lists you have created (links
and homework boards)
