Fritz Brown is a litigation attorney whose practice includes jury trials, court trials,
appeals and ADR procedures in state and federal court and before governmental
agencies. His litigation experience includes general personal injury, product
liability, municipal and governmental law, civil rights, insurance coverage and
defense, professional malpractice, toxic tort, intellectual property and commercial
and general litigation.
With extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution procedures since
1980, Mr. Brown is on the Minnesota Supreme Court Rule 114 Roster as a
qualified arbitrator and mediator. He has served as an independent hearing officer
(adjunct administrative law judge) for due process educational hearings, as a
commissioner in district court for eminent domain hearings, and as arbitrator/
mediator in administrating settlements in a national class action lawsuit. He
is also an active arbitrator and mediator for NASD Dispute Resolutions, Inc.,
National Arbitration Forum, and American Arbitration Association.
Mr. Brown currently serves as mediator, arbitrator, and special master in a variety
of litigated and non-litigated disputes including tort, employment construction
and commercial claims.
From 1971–1996, Mr. Brown practiced with the Popham, Haik law firm where
he was active with the firm’s Minneapolis and Denver offices. From 1996–1999,
he practiced with Bennett, Brown & McNeil, P.A. He then worked at Smith
Parker from 1999–2005. He has also served as an adjunct lecturer at the
University of Minnesota.
As community and bar leader, Mr. Brown served for many years as a member
of the Minnesota State Bar Association Civil Trial Certification Council, was a
member of the Board of Education of Benilde-St. Margaret’s School and served as
its Board chair for two years.
