Napa Valley Quilters Guild

“Anyone who says only sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.” This
anonymous quote expresses my relief and joy at this week’s rain. Finally we have winter! A
little late, but so appreciated: it is good to see green hills again. It was great seeing a full
house on Valentine’s Day and listening to such a rousing version of “Happy Birthday”. The
fun continued afterward thanks to Diane Massey-Todd who taught us how to create our own
Mariner’s Compass. The class was full of friendship, laughter, a new technique, and
amazingly beautiful results. Hats off to a most patient teacher!!!
Thank you all for signing the sympathy cards for Scott Clancey. It is such sad news to know
we have lost his joyful spirit. His memorial service is scheduled for Monday, February 23 at
1:00 pm at the Richard Pierce Funeral Home here in Napa. The guild will be sending a
memorial contribution as soon as the family’s wishes are known. He will be missed.
I know we are all looking forward to the 4-guild luncheon next month. My greatest
appreciation goes to Jo and Sue who have worked tirelessly for months to make it happen.
Please remember to carpool as much as you can and park outside the Sr. Center lot as much
as possible to save room for our guests. Even though we will have a full house, I hope you
will take time to get to know many of our fellow quilters.
“Every quilter has a masterpiece inside!” Keep creating beauty and enjoy the rain. Sheila
