                                               A Message from the Mayor
 Happy New Year!

2008 will be a great year to live in Leander. Benbrook Ranch Park will open with soccer fields, trails, a disc golf
course, softball field and other new facilities. In March the Gateway at Leander Shopping Center will open with a
Lowe’s, Kohl’s, Starbuck’s and other businesses unique to our community.

In recognition of Lowe’s NASCAR Racing Team, the City Council dedicated March 2008 as “Hendrick Motorsport
Month”. Another milestone for the community will be the initiation of Capital MetroRail service to Austin from
 Leander Station in the fall.

Those events will be in addition to all the activities our Parks & Recreation Department has planned. Join us for a
great year and remember: Healthy lifestyles and livable communities start in our parks!
