MULTICULTURAL PATIENT EDUCATION PRESENTATION
The purpose of this assignment is to provide an opportunity for student groups to
explore different aspects of multicultural care and relate them to patient education. The
group will select a multicultural case example to be the focus of this exercise. This
assignment should be a powerpoint presentation. Instructions for development of the
presentation are as follows:
Describe the culture or subculture that the case study will be based on. Include
the geographical origin of the culture, customs and traditions of the culture,
religious foundations of the culture, dietary habits of the culture, and health habits
of the culture.
Provide a summary of the case study. Include the age, gender, cultural
background, disease process, setting, and relational support (family) of the
learner (be brief).
Choose a cultural care model (from the Week 1 powerpoint lectures) that seems
most appropriate for the case study you developed. Identify and describe the
major components of the model. Explain why the chosen model is appropriate
for your case study.
Based on case study, select an instructional method (from page 29 in the
Redman book), and develop a teaching/learning project using the instructional
method as a guide. Identify and describe three (3) content areas that you will
teach. Also, develop at least one objective and one evaluation question for each
content area. The objective should be patient focused (the patient will…). The
