Statement
As a professional photographer, my interests lie in the various expressions of travel photography, from
the cultural and societal aspects to the scenic and architectural. I use photography as a cultural
document, to capture the essence of a place: its peoples, its spirit, its economy, its politics, its religion
and beliefs, and its artistic expressions that define the character and values. My primary goal is to
present pictures of a region that defines it and its relationship to the rest of the world. Secondly, I use
these photographs for business: to sell or license images for commercial use, or as artwork for display.
Photography Background and Technical Details
I have been a professional photographer for 4 years, am a member of ASMP, and am an avid supporter
of the medium, supporting non-profit groups in the field as well as a participant in photo-related forums
and events in the artistic community. Before I took it up as a profession, I had been a serious amateur,
when a company with whom I had taken a vacation offered to license images from me for use in their
catalog. It’s been a fulltime profession since then.
The following is a list of the photographic equipment I use:
35mm: Canon EOS A2
Canon EF L-series lenses: 17-35/2.8, 28-135 “IS”, 100-400 “IS”, 90mm Macro, 14mm wide angle
Film: Color Slide: Fuji Velvia, Provia, Astia; Color Negative: Kodak Pro 100 and 160VC, AGFA
Ultra 50; Black and White Slide: AGFA Scala 200, B&W Negative: (TMAX, Tri-X)
