Welcome to “Purpose”, Auction 2011.
I’m delighted that you’ve chosen to share this
evening with us, and that you desire to make a
difference for generations to come.
“And we know that in all things God works for the
good of those who love Him, who have been called
according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
As you participate in this auction, know that you are personally impacting
the lives of roughly 1500 young people here at Cascade Christian Schools.
Proceeds from our annual auction directly benefit these students,
district-wide, through Cougar athletics, creative arts, technology,
science curriculum, and campus environment upgrades – thank you for
your generosity.
I would like to personally express my appreciation to those who have
contributed to making this a wonderful evening, especially our auction
committee. Your purpose is realized through your gracious and generous
giving of time and talents to make this a memorable event. Thank you!
My thanks, as well, are extended to the many businesses and
individuals who donated the items we will enjoy purchasing
tonight. Your commitment to our students is greatly appreciated.
I know this auction is a tradition for many of you, and that you look
forward to an evening of fun and fellowship. So, enjoy the great dinner,
the great friends gathered around you, and the great fun to be had tonight.

Howard Fitzgerald
Howard Lee Fitzgerald 1927-2010
Ruby Lois Fitzgerald 1934-2009
On December 3, 2009, our Cascade Christian Schools family released a
dear friend to be with the Lord. Ruby was married to her husband,
Howard, for 58 years. On November 1st, 2010, Howard went to be with
the Lord and his dear wife, Ruby. Howard and Ruby began their
relationship with CCS when their grandsons, Jed Williams (’02) and Luke
Williams (’99) enrolled at People’s Christian School in the late 1980’s.
Howard was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Howard was
raised on a farm outside of Oklahoma City along with his seven brothers
and sisters. The family moved to Scappoose, Oregon when Howard was
19 years old. In Scappoose, Howard met his beloved wife Ruby and
together they raised three children. Howard was a fireman in the Air
Force, a civilian fireman, and a logger. Along with his wife Ruby, they built
new homes, remodeled 97 homes, and developed a mobile home park.
A risk-taker by nature, Howard never became discouraged by setbacks but
always looked ahead for the next opportunity. His business philosophy
he expressed as, “Don’t be greedy. Always leave something on the table
for the other fellow.” One quality that endeared Howard to many was his
witty sense of humor. He kept Ruby, the family, and many who knew him
laughing. He could defuse even a stressful moment with a comment that
would crack everyone up.
Howard and his wife Ruby were generous contributors to CCS. Through
their life of hard work, frugality, and living out other biblical stewardship
principles, their modest beginnings grew to become an incredible
Kingdom influence in our community. Over the last decade, the
Fitzgerald family has supported hundreds of students through tuition
assistance and feisty auction bidding.
Cascade Christian Schools is thankful for Howard and Ruby, and Ella
and her husband Scott, for their passion for our community. Howard and
Ruby’s friendship and influence, will be missed dearly.

Auctioneer
Brian Goodwater
Brian Goodwater works well over 50 auctions a year in the Seattle
and Portland areas as both a professional auctioneer and a bid
spotter. While he has only been with Stokes Auction Group, Inc.
since 2004, he has auctions in his blood. Brian’s uncle, Jim Jungers,
is a lead auctioneer with Stokes Auction Group, Inc. and his
grandfather, Mike Jungers, is a retired auctioneer. It was a natural
decision for Brian to continue on to auctioneer’s school after
graduating from college.
Brian has experienced benefit auctions from both sides of the
podium. As either an auctioneer or a bid spotter, he has helped an
assortment of non-profit organizations achieve their fundraising
goals: local public and private schools, Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation Chapters, regional medical centers, performing arts
groups, Rotary Chapters, and more.
Feedback from Brian’s customers shows consistent comments
praising his personable nature, his ability to connect with the
audience, and his charm. All of which leads to his high rebooking
rate.
A recent import to Washington from Northern California, Brian
has now made the Pacific Northwest his home. He enjoys outdoor
activities heading out whenever he can to camp, fish, and work on cars.

Master of Ceremonies
John Lennox
John Lennox has been a Cascade Christian parent for 12
years. His son, Westin, is a Senior and will be graduating
this year and will continue his education at Pacific Lutheran
University. His younger son, Michael, is in the 8th . John has
been married to Lorene for over 22 years. He leads worship
and music on Sunday mornings at Fellowship Bible Church
in Tacoma, in addition to his involvement in a weekly small
group Bible study. John has a small painting business that
serves the Tacoma and Puyallup areas, and loves being “the
go to guy” that everyone calls when they need something.
He values opportunities to encourage local business owners
and friends, and he spends a great deal of his time having
fun with his family. He coached football at Cascade Christian
Junior High and basketball at Puyallup Elementary. John has
also served as an assistant to Frosty and Scott Westering,
volunteering at PLU to the extent provided by law.
Bidding Rules
Please review this brief summary of auction procedures.
Registration
Each guest will be given a bid number and packet. All bidding in the si-
lent and live auctions, along with the “Fund-An-Item” and Dessert Frenzy,
must be done using your bidding number. Upon check-out you will need
your bid number. By bidding in any portion of the auction, each bidder
agrees to these auction rules.
Silent Auction
All items in the silent auction have bid forms with them. If you wish to
bid on an item, write your bid number on the bid sheet with an amount
next to it. Please notice you must bid in agreement with the bid incre-
ments.
Live Auction
To enter a bid on an item of choice, the bidder will signal the auctioneer
or bid catcher. Use only the bid number assigned to you. The auctioneer
will determine the successful bidder. Please hold your bid card so that it
is easily seen. The auctioneer will acknowledge the winner of the bid.
A bid acknowledged by the auctioneer is a legal contract to
purchase the item.
In the event of any dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have
sole and final discretion to determine the bidder or to re-offer the item in
dispute. The value set forth for items being auctioned are donor’s esti-
mates and not warranted by the auction for general value. All sales are
final and there will be no exchanges or refunds, except where noted.
Payment
An invoice listing all items you purchased in the silent auction will be
prepared for you and available at the cashier/check-out station. Payment
by cash, check or credit card (Visa or MasterCard) must be made before
leaving the auction. All checks must be made payable to Cascade Chris-
tian Schools. For items that are jointly purchased by two or more parties,
the signer is the designated payer.
Removal
All participants are encouraged to stay until the end of the auction.
Check-out will open thirty minutes after the live auction begins. Pro-
ceed to the line appropriate for your payment method. A runner will
be assigned to gather your items. Please do not remove items your-
self. Please check your receipt and your items.
Time Limit
Use of any condominiums, cabins, tickets, services, etc., need to take
place within one year following the auction, unless otherwise stated.
The time of use must be mutually agreed upon by both the winner
and the donor.
Warranties
Cascade Christian Schools has attempted to catalog and describe
items correctly. All items are sold “as is”. Cascade Christian Schools
neither warrants nor represents, and shall in no event be responsible
for, the correctness of description, genuineness, authorship, prove-
nance or condition of property. No statement contained in the cata-
log or made orally at the sale or elsewhere shall be deemed assump-
tion of liability for tax purposes for general value. Cascade Christian
Schools reserves the right to withdraw any item for sale prior to the
call for bids, and reserves the right to adjust the donor’s estimate of
retail value.
Liability
Each person issued a bid number assumes all risks related to the auc-
tion. Each bidder agrees to hold Cascade Christian Schools’ spon-
sors and/or volunteers connected with the auction harmless from
any liability arising therein.
Note
Your payments are tax deductible as a charitable contribution only
to the extent provided by law. Please consult a tax advisor as to the
deductibility of your payments.

All items on the silent auction tables will have a bid form. If you
wish to bid on an item, write your bid number on the bid sheet next
to the amount.
Dessert Frenzy
The Dessert Auction begins at 7:40 p.m.
What a fabulous way to help support Cascade Christian by
purchasing a delicious dessert. Please view all the wonderful desserts
before sitting down for dinner and make note of your favorite one.
Here is how the Dessert Auction will work:
There is a Dessert Bid Sheet at each table. Write your bid number
and the amount you wish to contribute to the dessert. The bid sheets
will then be totaled by table and then announced from highest to
lowest bid. The table with the highest amount will chose a Dessert
from the dessert table. Then the next highest amount and it will
continue down until the last table has picked a dessert. If you want
the dessert you had your eye on, make sure your table is the highest
bid. Have fun and enjoy!

Puget Sound Extravaganza begins at Day Island Yacht
Club where you will take a cruise on the lower sound on
a 31’ Bayliner. Picnic lunches will be served. Arrive back
at “making memories beach retreat” for an afternoon in
the sun and a delicious salmon barbeque and clam bake.
Water activities to be decided by participants. This day of

titled “In God We Trust”. Each student created a square that
represents one state of the country. The LaConner Quilt and
Textile Museum would like to recognize the students efforts
and display the quilt in this national quilt museum for one
month to be agreed upon by the purchaser.
