MOTHERS DAY: CELEBRATING MOMS AND MOTHERHOOD
The Gratitude Book Project: Celebrating Moms & Motherhood is a collection of heart-
warming stories and essays from people all around the world sharing the love and
appreciation, the funny and the poignant insights, of moms and motherhood.
San Diego, CA– Second in a series of books under the name The Gratitude Book Project, the
freshly released edition, Celebrating Moms and Motherhood, digs deep into the many roles
mothers play through the reflections and stories of over 185 inspiring contributors.
Touching on the incomparable relationship between a mother and her child, The Gratitude Book
Project: Celebrating Moms and Motherhood shares impassioned stories of the many things kids
learn from their moms, and the surprising number of lessons mothers learn from their children.
What is a mother? A baker of cookies? A mender of boo-boos? A chauffeur? “A mother is a
woman who demonstrates all of those skills and thousands more while often being
underappreciated and undoubtedly underpaid,” said Donna Kozik, editor of The Gratitude Book
Project: Celebrating Moms and Motherhood. “Motherhood includes little sleep, much worry and
the ability to see great potential in small accomplishments. It is both the most challenging and
the most rewarding job a woman can ever have.”
Blossoming from a seed of an idea in 2010, The Gratitude Book Project: Celebrating Moms and
Motherhood is certain to warm your heart and fill your soul with stories of strength, gratitude,
appreciation and memories from your childhood.
Gems from the book include: “An outrageously huge belly laugh can cure almost anything.”
(Meredith Liepelt, p. 21), “As I reflect on my life I now realize that nothing I’ve ever done,
aspired to be or do, or imagined for my life will ever define me as motherhood has.” (Anne M.
Skinner, p. 129) and referencing her son, “He inspired me to become more, do more and grow
into the person I was meant to be.” (Denice Rivera, p. 69).
In keeping with the spirit of the project, net proceeds from national book sales will be given to
Women for Women International. Changing the world one woman at a time, Women for Women
International provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and
resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting
viable civil societies.
