Active with the Girl Scouts for six years, began her involvement
when her daughters joined Daisies and the group needed a Cookie Mom. Sorting and delivering
cookies to the girls meant meeting them and realizing that scouting meant a lot to them. Soon,
the Cookie Mom became assistant scout leader and, later, leader of Troop .
The secret to 's success as a Girl Scout Leader is knowing where the
young scout's interests lie. She has attempted to focus the attention of the girls in Troop by keeping them active. The girls have made a cable television
commercial promoting cookie sales, served soup at the , visited
nursing homes, provided free babysitting at parent-teacher conferences, and completed several
other exciting projects. Organizing such an energetic schedule of events requires quite a bit of
stamina and commitment. is certainly an inspiration to all who know her,
one who cares about young people. We thank her for a job well done.

will graduate from in , and through her efforts in Girl Scouting, she has taken a look at the requirements
for various careers in preparation for her future. On the way to the Gold she earned four Interest
Project Patches, the Senior Scout Challenge Pin, the Career Exploration Pin, and the Gold
Leadership Award as well as completed a four-month community service project. Artistic crafts,
creative writing, collecting, and auto maintenance were chosen for the patches, and she got a
paying job for Career Exploration. She met requirements in five areas of scouting for the
Challenge Pin, worked thirty hours with youth and adults for her Leadership Award, and went on
to work on the Gold project. This was the creation of a fire safety coloring book for
kindergartners. Presented in the , it has undoubtedly
helped youngsters to understand more about the importance of fire safety.
Through her commitment to the ideals of scouting, has gained a
sense of accomplishment and an appreciation of what it means to serve others. She has also
learned new skills and developed qualities of leadership and concern for others that will make
her an asset in her community and her profession in years to come. She has certainly won our
