Every person who has a good and funny story about his (her) U.S. experience (of course, an
appropriate one) and wishes to win a great prize - a specially made T-shirt and a certificate - will e-
mail me the story + his (her) name, FLEX year and city. Every weekend, I'll create a compilation of
the stories and will send them to the group so everyone can read them. After that, alumni will vote
for the best story. On April 1, the award ceremony will take place where the
All the stories will be published in a FLEX alumni funny stories book - depending on the number
of the stories, this will either be a real published book or an electronic book. The contest will be
taking place from today (Thursday, February 7) till 6 p.m on Monday, March 17. After that, the
voting will be held on-line from March 17 till March 31.
All FLEX alumni whose permanent residency is in Ukraine and who are members of
East_of_UkraineFLEX are eligible to submit their stories (except for American Councils
employees). All members of East_of_UkraineFLEX are eligible to take part in the voting process.
Of course, the participants of the contest are free to invite their alumni friends to join the group and
vote for them (to join the group, the alumni has to go to East of Ukraine FLEX group)! Don't worry
- during the voting process, all the stories will be posted on-line (here I suppose).
You are welcome to submit as many stories as you feel like. Just to start and give you a small hint,
here's an example:
"In the U.S., I decided to take Journalism I class. The teacher was young and pretty cool. During
the first class I got to sit next to a pretty girl who I've met a few days before. The teacher, Mrs.
McCandless, gave us an assignment to write a short news article about the first day of school
during our freshman year. Since I didn't have a freshman year, I couldn't really think of something
to write. So I wanted to create a story that never really happened. So, sitting with a pretty girl, I
asked Mrs. McCandless, "Can we just make out?" The class and the teacher were dying of laughter.
The girl I was sitting with became red. But all I meant was "Can I just make up a story?"
