Alma Rosa Pinot Noir La Encantada Santa Rita Hills

2005 Vintage

“From Richard Sanford’s new brand and vineyard comes this earthy, slightly rustic Pinot Noir. A praiseworthy Pinot rich

in cherry, cola, coffee and pomegranate flavors accented by a crisp minerality. Do not be put off by the screwcap. The

winery deserves great credit for taking this step.”

90 Points Wine Enthusiast, April 2007

90 points International Wine Cellar, Nov/Dec 2007

2004 Vintage

“Sleek and structured, with a tight beam of herb, citrus and anise-laced wild berry and black cherry fruit. Acidity keeps

the flavors firm and vivid, finishing with wild berry fruit.”

91 Points Wine Spectator, May 2006

Alma Rosa Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills

2005 Vintage

“Enticing aromas of lavendar and berry, rich, supple and elegant on the palate, with a vibrancy to the fruit and

suppleness to the texture. Long and fruity on the finish. Drink now through 2011.”

90 Wine Spectator, January 2007

Alma Rosa Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills

2005 Vintage

"More hazelnut, toasted almond, and buttery popcorn characteristics are found in the 2005 Chardonnay Santa Barbara.

Not as forceful, rich, or delineated as the single vineyard cuvee, it is an outstanding Chardonnay to consume over the

next 1-2 years."

Anakota Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota Knights Valley

2005 Vintage

Good deep medium ruby. Crushed cassis, licorice, spices, minerals and a whiff of currant leaf on the complex nose.

Juicy, firmly built and serious, with ripe flavors of dark berries and spices complemented by a whiff of fresh herbs. At

once sweet and classically dry. This offers lovely aromatic lift on the back end, finishing with broad, toothdusting tannins

and excellent subtle persistence. Interestingly, this has the highest pH of these four Anakota wines (3.84, compared to

3.63 to 3.68 for the other three), but there's no shortage of verve.

90-93 Points Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar, May 2007

91 Points Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar, June 2008

2004 Vintage

"The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota's vineyard is planted in more reddish, loamy soils mixed with the white

volcanic ash. It is a deeper, fuller-bodied effort with an inky/purple color as well as sweet aromas of blueberries,

blackberries, graphite, and subtle new oak. With beautiful purity as well as hints of crushed stones and flowers, a wealth

of fruit, an extravagantly rich mouthfeel, sweet tannin, and a long finish, this seamless Cabernet should drink well for 15-

20 years. "

Sadly, there only 500 cases of this impressive Cabernet from Jess Jackson. French winemaker Pierre Seillan is

responsible for this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon fashioned from fruit grown in the tufa (white volcanic ash) soils of

Knight’s Valley. This is a terrific example of amountain Cabernet.

earth-scented and flavored personality."

Anakota Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Montana Knights Valley

2005 Vintage

"Good full ruby-red. Musky aromas of dark cherry, coffee, tobacco and loam. Sweet, lush and fine-grained, with lovely

elegance and life to the flavors of cherry and coffee. Harmonious acidity really extends and lifts the fruit on the back end,

which features very suave tannins and outstanding persistence. This goes a step beyond the very good 2004. Jess

Jackson notes that this site, on volcanic ash soil, ripens a full two weeks earlier than the Helena Dakota, which is

planted on soil rich in iron and clay."

2004 Vintage

"The deep purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Montana reveals aromas of crushed rocks, flowers, black

currants, and spicy oak. Powerful, tannic, medium to full-bodied flavors coat the mouth, but this cuvee clearly needs time

in the bottle. Although it possesses beautiful purity, structure, and intensity, it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring, and

should keep for 15-20."

"Exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, more structure and tannin than its sibling, along with abundant amounts of creme de

cassis fruit intermixed with notions of licorice and flowers. Structured with good minerality as well as a spicy, full-bodied

finish, it should be at its peak between 2007-2018+."

Archipel Red Blend

2004 Vintage

"Red-ruby. Cassis, violet, dark chocolate and menthol on the nose. Juicy, leanish and penetrating, with dominant flavors

of dark fruits. Quite firm but not hard. Finishes with excellent length and structure. Needs at least three or four years of

aging. Potentially the best vintage yet under this label."

88-90 Points Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar, May 2006

2003 Vintage

"Attractive, forward, luscious, and hedonistic, this deep ruby-colored 2003 exhibits medium to full body, silky tannin, and

plenty of fruit as well as character. It will drink well for 7-8 years."

Arrowood Cabernet Sauvignon

2004 Vintage

"Shows the impeccable balance you expect from this master winemaker, even in this hot vintage, where supermaturity

was a challenge. The wine is certainly ripe, offering a mouthful of blackberries, cherries and currants. But it never loses

its elegant tannin-acid architecture. Beautiful now, and should develop through 2014."

93 Points Wine Enthusiast, Buying Guide, March 2008

2003 Vintage

"They kept this Cab back all this time, presumably at some cost to the company, but consumers are the beneficiaries.

Everything has mellowed. The wine, with 1% Petit Verdot, is like hands of cassis, dark chocolate and oak massaging the

palate. The grapes were sourced from top vineyards in the Dry Creek, Sonoma and Alexander Valleys. Drink now-

2010."

93 Points Wine Enthusiast, Steve Heimoff, December 2007

Arrowood Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve

2004 Vintage

"The age worthiness and brilliant quality of Dick Arrowood’s Reserve Speciale Cabernet Sauvignon is reflected time and

time again in blind tastings when it is inserted against Napa’s finest. Recently, the 1995 acquitted itself at the top of the

group in a tasting of some of the very best 1995s from Napa. This is a sensational wine that is blended from different top

vineyard sources in Sonoma Valley. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Speciale, which spent 30 months in oak

before being bottled unfiltered, has a deep ruby/purple color and a gorgeous nose of cedar, crushed rocks, black cherry,

and cassis, with some licorice and roasted herbs. The wine has fabulous intensity, a full-bodied, opulent palate, ripe

tannin, and a long 50-second finish. Arrowood made just under 2,100 cases of this superb wine, and for the price, it is a

relatively good value in high-end northern California Cabernet. This wine should drink well for 10-20+ years. "

95 Points Robert M. Parker Jr., Wine Advocate, December 2007

Arrowood Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve

2003 Vintage

"This multivineyard blend is from Sonoma Valley and Dry Creek Valley. You really don't want to open it yet because

it's too young. But it has great future ahead, to judge from the rich, softly fine tannins and cherry, red currant, cola,

olive tapenade and sweet fresh herb flavors. Balanced and refined, this Cab defines the Sonoma style. Best 2008-

2015."

Arrowood Chardonnay

2005 Vintage

"Here's a polished Chard with an elegant balance to a variety that often lacks both. Everything is here, from the ripe

tropical fruit and rich oak to the crisp acidity and mineral trimmings, all poised in perfect equilibrium."

90 Points Wine Enthusiast, Steve Heimoff, December 2007

Arrowood Syrah Saralee’s Vineyard

2005 Vintage

"Another gorgeous wine is Dick Arrowood’s 2005 Syrah Saralee’s Vineyard. He has always done an exemplary job with

Syrah, long before it became so popular in California. He co-ferments it with 3% Viognier, and the result is a dark

ruby/purple-colored wine with plenty of chocolatey blackberry fruit notes, medium to full body, super freshness, purity,

and a sumptuous texture. This is stunning stuff to drink over the next 5-6 years. "

91-93 Points Robert M. Parker Jr., Wine Advocate, August 2007

2004 Vintage

"The 2004 Syrah Saralee's Vineyard was aged in French oak for 18 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered. It

exhibits plenty of blackberry, bacon fat, and exotic fruit aromas (a small quantity of Viognier is co-fermented with this

cuvee). This lush Syrah is difficult to resist, but if you can keep your hands off of it, it should age well for 5-10 years."

Atalon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

2004 Vintage

"The impressive 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon comes primarily from a hillside vineyard above Lake Hennessy as well as

Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain, and a tiny quantity from Mt. Veeder and Oakville. Its deep ruby/purple color is

accompanied by a big, sweet bouquet of creme de cassis, spicy new oak, graphite, and licorice. Full-bodied, powerful

and long in the mouth, it will benefit from 1-3 years of bottle age, and last for 12-15 or more years."

90 Points Robert M. Parker Jr., Wine Advocate, December 2006

2002 Vintage

"As usual, a deep, dark, brooding cabernet. The nose is a mix of mint chocolate and smoky, blackberry jam with subtle

vanilla edges. The attack is young and aggressive but the tannins are round and well managed. Still a baby but the

black berry dusty olives and orange peel spikes speak to the exotic. Solid from front to back, like the vintage. The fruit

comes off a maze of vineyards sources at Veeder Peak, Stagecoach, Peter Michael, Beckstoffer Tokalon and

Rutherford, Keyes-Howell Mt., Oakville Home Estate and Diamond Mt."

2002 Vintage

"Ruby-red. Very Ripe aromas of raspberry, licorice, chocolate and tar. Sweeter and lusher than the 2001, with

penetrating flavors of black cherry, licorice and tar lifted by a floral component. Here the tannins come across as more

suave, allowing the flavors to linger. A blended wine, from disparate parcels."

Cardinale Red Blends Napa Valley

2005 Vintage

"This 1,000-case cuvee from three separate Napa vineyards – the Veeder Peak Vineyard high up on Mt. Veeder, the

Keyes Vineyard on Howell Mountain, and the Stags Leap Vineyard on the valley floor – is a blend of 89% Cabernet

Sauvignon and 11% Merlot. Deep ruby/purple to the rim, with notes of graphite, black cherry and black currant liqueur,

licorice, and spice box, the wine has silky tannins, full body, a gorgeously layered, rich mouthfeel, and a long finish with

moderately high tannins and refreshing acidity. It’s a big wine for sure, but it has uncanny elegance, purity, and length. "

95 Points Robert M. Parker Jr., Wine Advocate, December 2007

22ber/November 2006

2004 Vintage

"Consistently one of the best proprietary blends of northern California, Cardianle's 2004 is 100% Napa fruit (from Mt.

Veeder, Howell Mountain, Stags Leap District, and Oakville). This blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot

boasts a dense purple color in addition to sweet aromas of kirsch, black currants, licorice, olives, and spice box.

Fabulous texture, full-bodied power, pure fruit, and an opulent, voluptuous finish nearly conceal significant tannin. This

beauty should drink well young, yet age easily for 15 more years. Not yet released. Previously recommended: 2003

Proprietary Red Wine (95). "

Edmeades Mendocino Zinfandel

2006 Vintage

"This is a beautiful 2006 Zinfandel that sells for a song. This has got to be one of the better values, and of course, 2006

looks to be a vastly superior vintage to 2005 for Zinfandel. This wine, which has some Petite Sirah, Merlot, Syrah, and

Grenache blended in, exhibits deep ruby color and a big, sweet nose of peppery black cherry and raspberry liqueur

intermixed with spring flowers and earth. The wine is medium to full-bodied, ripe, and altogether a hedonistic mouthful of

big Zinfandel. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. "

Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Sycamore Vineyard

2005 Vintage

"Out-of-the-barrel, deep crimson-purple hue. Dark plum, dark cherry and blackberry aromas. Lots of fruit, vanilla and jam

flavors. Chocolate and oak tannins spice the finish."

90 Points Retrospective Tasting, Wine News, John Intardonato, January 2008

2004 Vintage

"There are just under 1,600 cases of this wine. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Sycamore Vineyard (another Rutherford

Bench vineyard, but in this case, biodynamically farmed) is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 6%

Cabernet Franc given the same treatment as the Bosche Vineyard. Deep ruby/purple with an even more complex and

evolved nose than the Bosche, the wine shows notes of cedar, fruitcake, black currants, cherries, smoke, and pain grille.

Dense, rich, full-bodied fruit flavors coat moderate tannins. The wine is savory, mouth-filling, and quite deep and

layered. It should drink well for 15-20 years as well. Bravo! "

93 Points Robert M. Parker Jr., Wine Advocate, December 2007

Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Sycamore Vineyard

"Lovely opaque purple-garnet hue. Scents of berries, cassis, chocolate and dust. Complex spice flavors with fruit to

Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Bosche Vineyard

2004 Vineyard

"From the high-pedigree of the Bosche Vineyard, the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Bosche, a blend of 88% Cabernet

Sauvignon and 12% Merlot aged in French oak for 24 months, exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color and a wonderfully

sweet nose of camphor, underbrush, black currants, and spice. The wine is deep, full-bodied, with superb richness,

depth, and intensity. This is a beauty with silky tannins and low acidity. It should drink beautifully for 15-20+ years. "

92 Points Robert M. Parker Jr., Wine Advocate, December 2007

2003 Vineyard

"A lush and round Napa Valley cabernet, this is all about soft ripeness of black fruit and rich, espresso-roast tannin. A

pretty floral note adds to the wine's simple, delicious flavor. A steakhouse pour."

90 Points Wine & Spirits, Joshua Greene, December 2007

Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

2004 Vintage

"The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon (10,582 cases) is an outstanding value in Napa Cabernet. With prices on almost every

Napa Cabernet now well in excess of $50.00, a $35.00 wine that merits 90 points is big news. Deep ruby purple in color

with loads of licorice, black currant, cedar, and spice, this wine has beautiful texture, medium to full body, and a heady

finish. The velvety texture and opulence of the wine speak to drinking it over the next 10-15 years. "

Freemark Abbey Chardonnay Napa Valley

"The grapes are from all parts of the valley, cool as well as warm, and the wine shows a complex structure and rich fruity

"2005 HARTFORD COURT CHARDONNAY FOUR HEARTS A new offering, the 2005 Chardonnay Four Hearts is a

11,000-case cuvee of stunning Chardonnay. Beautiful aromas of honeysuckle, peach blossoms, poached pears, and

subtle wood are present in this well-made, elegant crisp, aromatically expressive white. Medium to full-bodied, long, and

pure, it should provide plenty of pleasure over the next 3-4 years. This is one of my favorite wineries for Burgundian-

styled Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs as well as full-throttle Zinfandels (although the 2005s are lighter than usual). Don

Hartford and Jess Jackson have incredible access to some fabulous vineyards."

"Seascape is perhaps the winery's coldest vineyard, right in the path of the wind blast coming in off Bodega Bay. You

can taste the Pacific chill in the high acidity that makes the fruit so pure and intense. The flavors, of Meyer lemons, lime

Hartford Zinfandel Dina’s Vineyard Russian River

2006 Vintage

"My favorite of this group, is the 2006 Zinfandel Dina’s Vineyard (15.8% alcohol). From another 100-year-old parcel of

seven acres of head-trained, dry-farmed vines, this wine offers copious quantities of raspberry and blueberry fruit, a full-

bodied, peppery, spicy personality, and oodles of glycerin and depth. It is a beauty and a superb Zinfandel. "

La Crema Chardonnay Sonoma Coast

"A wine this good, priced at $18, makes me wonder what some other people are doing with all their carefully selected

Chardonnay fruit. In the case of Melissa Stackhouse at La Crema, she is keeping it brisk and clean. The vineyard sites

are all located within 25 miles of the coast and the freshness of this wine, the flavors of pear and peach skin, give it a

zest that feels true to that coastal influence. It's layered and cool, a luscious wine for crab."

aroma continues on through the finish, where a hint of seaweed and tangerine-like acidity point up the freshness in this

mouthwatering red. For bone-in pork chops roasted with hedgehog mushrooms."

and deserves the new oak they lavished on it. Flavors and structure perfectly balance, with massive cherry pie, cassis

Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain Napa Valley

2005 Vintage

"The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain exhibits a fabulous scorched earth, almost volcanic ash sort of nose

with blackberry and cassis notes. Dense ruby/purple-colored, with full-bodied power and richness, relatively soft tannins,

and a sensationally layered mouth feel, this is concentrated but beautifully complex already and set for at least 15-20

years of evolution. Four absolutely stunning Cabernet Sauvignons from winemaker Chris Carpenter, these are the

creme de le creme of some of the Jess Jackson-owned Napa vineyards. All mountain sites, all 100% Cabernet

Sauvignon, all unfined and unfiltered - and all four are of irrefutably great quality. The case productions are relatively

limited, from a very small 120-cases from the Howell Mountain and Spring Mountain sites to nearly 800 cases of Mt.

"Austere and dominated by its tannic structure and crushed rock minerality, the dark ruby/purple-colored 2005 Cabernet

amounts of fruit and tannins. The tannins are elevated, but the wine is so enormously endowed, I don’t think there’s a

The 2004 Sequel Syrah is made by John Duval, for 15 years the winemaker of Penfolds Grange, Australia’s most

famous Shiraz. The fruit was sourced from five vineyards encompassing several AVAs and includes 3% Cabernet

Sauvignon in the final blend. Ninety percent of the wine was aged for 18 months in small French oak. Purple/black in

color, this superb Syrah offers grilled meat, bacon fat, game and wild blueberry aromas and flavors. On the palate the

wine is spicy, layered, and plush with soft tannins and enough acidity to hold things together. This hedonistic effort can

be enjoyed now but will easily last for 20+ years. Kudos to Alan Shoup for directing a project in which every wine (and

winemaker) turned in an outstanding performance.

G.A.M. Shiraz 2006, McLaren Vale

2006 Vintage

“Opaque purple in color, it has an aromatic array of roasted coffee, violets, lavender, pepper, Asian spices, blueberry,

and blackberry liqueur. In the mouth it is velvety-textured, deep, concentrated, opulent, and altogether hedonistic. It will

evolve for 5-7 years and drink well through 2026.”

Savitar Shiraz 2006, McLaren Vale

2006 Vintage

“Purple-colored, the aromatics are a bit reticent initially, but soon scents of toasty oak, tar, licorice, scorched earth, and

blueberry emerge. This leads to a wine which is more structured and less opulent than its peers. It will evolve for a

minimum of 8-10 years and drink well through 2040. As a point of reference, the 2002 Savitar (rated 95) was presented.

It is considerably more developed aromatically but still has a significant distance to travel prior to reaching its peak.”

Marcel Deiss Burlenberg, Pinot Noir

2003 Vintage

“Profound aromas of leather, soy, vanilla-tinged blackberry preserves, and raw meat in the 2003 Burlenberg lead to

palate-staining, warmly-concentrated, sappy black fruit and meat melange. Yet, this doesn’t lack for a certain tart, juicy,

sappy, fresh-fruited vigor as well as fruit pit bitterness that help offset its sheer density, fruit preserve ripeness, and

brooding carnality. It clings with tenacity as well as tannin, and with abundance of black fruit, resin, and meaty

concentrates.”

Marcel Deiss Pinot Blanc Bergheim, AOC Bergheim

2005 Vintage

“The Deiss 2005 Pinot Blanc displays lovely sweet floral notes, yellow cherry, and nut oils on the nose. Surprisingly

sweet and creamy on the palate, but with vividly juicy yellow plum and cherry fruit, an impressive saturation of chalky

mineral character (reflective of a location beneath Bergheim’s austere Grasberg), and formidable grip, this is even more

opulent and intense than its 2004 counterpart. Its sheer richness will demand that one take care in pairing this Pinot

Blanc with cuisine, but no one can deny this represents a lot of concentration and complexity and irresistible ripeness,

not to mention an exceptional value.”

Marcel Deiss Riesling Beblenheim, AOC Beblenheim

2005 Vintage

“Given the tiny size of his 2005 crop and the synergistic potential in a marriage of chalk and granite terroirs, Deiss

blended the fruits of Beblenheim and St.-Hippolyte for an excellent value 2005 Riesling. This displays pure aromas of

apple, plum, grapefruit rind, and cassis, a refined, delicate palate that shows the effects of low (11.5%) alcohol and very

gentle pressing, and a lip-smacking, juicy, refined, grapefruit-, apple-, and honey-dominated finish. There is a hint of

sweetness, but it is so well integrated that the wine can pass for ‘dry.’”

Marcel Deiss Muscat Bergheim, AOC Bergheim

2005 Vintage

“The Deiss 2005 Muscat d’Alsace displays sweet, extremely ripe but herb-tinged apricot and orange blossom aromas,

then comes onto the palate lithe and invigorating in its citrus rind and herbal pungency as well as salinity, and finishes

with remarkable length, refinement, liqueur-like intensity of orange and apricot, and a clear, fresh fruit intensity, none of

which one expects to encounter (or perhaps one only dreams of meeting) with this genre. Very seldom – outside of

Dirler, Muller-Catoir or Zind-Humbrecht – have I tasted a dry(ish) Muscat of this quality, not to mention such an

La Coulée de Serrant, AOC Savennières-Coulée de Serrant

“The deep brass-colored 2004 Savennieres Coulee de Serrant offers a yet more unusual aromatic spectacle than the

Clos de la Bergerie. Apricots and their kernels, quince paste, marzipan, jasmine, and daffodil-like, faintly stinky, musky

floral notes are backed by animal and mineral nuances I find impossible to pin down. In the mouth, there is a satiny

texture, salty, saliva-inducing mineral inflections, persistent musky florality, and high-toned inner-mouth esters. Salt,

Mario Schiopetto Bianco, IGT Venezia Giulia

2004 Vintage

“Here is a beautifully executed northern white (mostly barrel-fermented Chardonnay and Tocai Friulano) with pristine

notes of stone fruit, banana, pineapple, vanilla and yellow flowers. It has good intensity in the mouth with a silky, creamy

fell and very good persistency on the finish.”

91 Wine Enthusiast, May 2007

90 Wine Spectator, March 2007

90 Wine & Spirits, August 2006

Pinot Bianco, DOC Collio

2006 Vintage

“The Pinot Bianco has often been one of my favorite wines in the range and the 2006 is a strong effort. Made in a

somewhat understated style, it reveals flowers, mint, licorice and white peaches on a delicately-textured medium-bodied

frame of notable finesse.”

90 Wine Advocate, October 2007

Pinot Grigio, DOC Collio

2006 Vintage

“Very subtle, with lemon, pineapple and papaya aromas that follow through to a full-bodied palate, with fresh acidity and

a minerally, appley finish. Balanced and flavorful.”

90 Wine Spectator, February 2008

Tocai Friulano, DOC Collio

2006 Vintage

“Aromas of peach stone, light honey and lemon. Full-bodied, with mineral, white pepper, flint and ripe peach. Long and

flavorful. This is a crisp, superclean wine, with loads of character and finesse.”

92 Wine Spectator, November 2007

90 Wine Advocate, October 2007

Blanc des Rosis, IGT Venezia Giulia

2005 Vintage

“Schiopetto makes this complex and layered blend by fermenting four different varieties separately. The tocai (50%

percent), pinot grigio and sauvignon go into stainless steel, the malvasia into large wooden vats to round it out.

Together, the form a bold white, its range of flavors delivered with firmness and sass. Scents of pear and honey, yellow

herbs and peach skin make an impression that seems to be amplified in the finish. A hint of earthiness lasts.”

94 Wine & Spirits, August 2007

Blumeri, IGT Venezia Giulia

2003 Vintage

“Blumeri is mostly young-vine fruit from Schiopetto’s estate in Colli Orientali, a blend based on Merlot (about 20 percent

old-vine) with refosco dal peduncolo rosso and cabernet. It’s a fresh and elegant 2003, with luscious, wild blueberry

flavors building density in the middle then cool, spicy tannins coming to a dark chocolate end.”

Tenuta di Arceno Super Tuscan Arcanum I Cabernet Franc

Based Blend Toscana

2004 Vintage

"2004 Toscana Arcanum I Arceno is Jess Jackson's estate in Chianti Classico, just north of Siena. Pierre Seillan blends

several wines from the property; Arcanum I, which is focused on cabernet franc (59 %), with cabernet sauvignon and

merlot, is consistently the best. This wine glows in the glass, its aroma pure black currant, sweet and fresh. It has the

class of finely grown cabernet franc, with tannins that speaks more of Tuscan earth than fruit. Robust in weight, yet silky

smooth, this combines the best of the old and New worlds in a supple, luscious red wine. Probably best around ten

years from the vintage. Serve with grilled baby lamb chops. "

Tenuta di Arceno Super Tuscan Arcanum I Cabernet Franc

Based Blend Toscana

2003 Vintage

"Aromas of dark fruit and cassis mingle with earth, vanilla and oak for an exotic introduction. Earthy and almost dusty in

texture, this is a very rich and highly extracted wine. Huge structure and abundant fruit flavors with a core of black

cherry, dark chocolate and tobacco. Impressive delivery, sumptuous mouth-feel and a long finish."

Tenuta di Arceno Super Tuscan Arcanum I Cabernet Franc

Based Blend Toscana

2002 Vintage

"This smells more like Bordeaux than Tuscany, and tastes like a blend between the two, incorporating cabernet franc's

foresty tones with touches of cabernet sauvignon (13%) and sangiovese (5%). The vintage suited cabernet franc well,

making something brisk and elegant out of conditions that devastated much of Tuscany's sangiovese. "

“Dark and alluring, with hints of toast and mocha giving way to lushly textured fig, currant and molten chocolate notes.

Stays racy on the finish though, with notes of aged tobacco and freshly ground espresso beans. Cabernet Sauvignon,

LB Vintage Character, Porto

“The impressive non-vintage Late Bottled (vintage character) port, possesses fabulous fruit, and that wonderful spice

and smoky chocolate character found in quality port. Dense, rich, and showy, this is excellent value in high quality port.”

91 Wine Advocate

10 Year Old Tawny, Porto

“Full-bodied and very sweet, with plenty of toffee and dried fruit character on the finish. Really yummy.”

90 Wine Spectator

20 Year Old Tawny, Porto

“It offers an amber color, a spicy, tobacco, cedary, smoky, complex nose, dense, rich flavors that belie the color's aged,

feeble look, and an expansive personality. It is a classic example of how delicious and complex a 20 year old tawny port

can be.”

91 Wine Advocate

Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 2004, Porto

“Has lots of grapey, stemmy, rich aromas. Full-bodied, lightly sweet and chewy, with plenty of grip. Layered and rich.

Serious and structured. All there for the vintage. Best after 2017.”

92 Wine Spectator, October 2007
