Autobiography
Everyone is a life-long learner. One does not have to be from a certain city or
have a certain job to teach. Teaching and learning are both important aspects of life.
I have been learning about life one step at a time since I was born. Lake Charles
is the place where I was born and raised. I was birthed by my mother, Darnell Eastman.
She is a teacher’s aide at St. John Elementary. She and my father are married and have
been married for 25 years. My father’s name is Scott Eastman. He was the head softball
coach at McNeese State University for 15 years. In 2005, he resigned and became the
head coach at Vinton Middle School. I have an older sister that is 23 years old. She is
currently working on getting her photography license, which is her passion. My sister
and I do not have many things in common. I do not have many hobbies, but one hobby
that I do have is duck hunting. There is something about waking up at 5:30 a.m. and
watching the sunrise from a duck blind that I really enjoy. The smell of the marsh, mud,
and gunpowder make me enjoy duck hunting. Hopefully one day I can pass on my skills
and techniques of duck hunting to my children. I believe that it is important to learn
things as a child and as one grows old. Even though, one day I will be out of school, I
will still be learning as life continues. One does not know everything. One always
continues to learn. People will always be learning whether it is in school or a job related
environment.
I have learned many different things outside of school. My first job was the
military. I joined the United States Marine Corp when I was eighteen years old.

I learned about weapons, safety, and many more survival techniques which I would have
not learned in school. Since I have been out of the Marine Corp I have had two different
jobs. The first job was at West Marine. West Marine sales everything you need from
sailing equipment to fishing tackles. Now I work at Solar Supply. Solar Supply is a very
new environment for me. We sell air conditioners, along with all the parts to fix them.
Over the past few years I have gained more knowledge. From grade school to high
school, from high school, to the Marine Corp, from the Marine Corp to everyday life, I
have had many educational experiences. Currently, I am a freshmen at McNeese State
University. Although I will graduate in 4 years, my learning experiences will continue
into the next part of my life. This will hopefully be a middle school gym teacher. While
I was active duty in the Armed Forces, I was a team leader. As a team leader with
combat experience, my job was to teach my new Marines everything they needed to
know. I realized I wanted to teach ever since I became a team leader. All my men came
to me with questions, and I was the leader that they trusted and believed in. If I was a
gym teacher I could teach children not only physical fitness but about life and working
hard for what you want.
Being a physical education teacher is a huge goal in my life. Children at the
middle school level look up to their physical education coach. They see their coach as an
important role model. At this point in my life I have many goals. Before coaching I have
to graduate from college. After college I plan to get married and start a family. These
are only a few of the goals that I have set for myself. By the time I am 29, I would love
to have all my main goals accomplished.

All my life I have been around educators. The feeling that you get from helping
someone is unexplainable. I have experienced so many things that other people have not.
I have worked harder than others for some of the things I have accomplished. Teaching
physical education is not only about physical fitness and the human body, it is about life,
learning, growing up, and making the right choices. I want to be the coach that children
look up to, trust, and the person they want to be like when they grow up.
