The Mall – Preston

The Baby Beat Appeal is extremely fortunate to have been The Mall‟s chosen charity for
2009 and 2010. We are looking forward to our two-year partnership of fundraising.

Sainsbury’s Deepdale – Collection at PNE – Saturday 31 January

As part of our partnership with Sainsbury‟s Deepdale, Sainsbury‟s staff will be collecting
at the Preston North End Football ground both prior to the match and during half time.


Pennies From Heaven

To be launched this month. Sadie Winter and Andrew Dorrington from Central
Lancashire PCT have organised this venture for The Appeal. For more information how

Insurance Institute of Preston and Blackpool – Collection in The Mall at Preston –
Saturday 7 February

As part of their yearly commitment to Baby Beat, The Insurance Institute of Preston and
Blackpool, will be collecting in The Mall on behalf of The Appeal.


Baby Beat Black Tie Winter Ball – Friday 6 March – 7.00pm

Being held at Barton Grange Hotel, Garstang Road, Barton. Organiser, Sandra Allan, one
of Baby Beat;s main fundraiser‟s has kindly offered to host this popular event once again
for Baby Beat. Guest artist: Stephen Bayliss. Evening to include: Champagne Reception,
4 Course Dinner, Auction and Raffle with carriages at 1am. To be attended by Baby

Penwortham Golf Club

Baby Beat has been chosen by the Captain of the Golf Club as his nominated charity to
benefit from fundraising over the coming year. The Club will be organising many events
to raise funds for The Appeal.
Sainsbury’s Deepdale Store – Sponsorship

Baby Beat is extremely privileged to have been chosen for a second year‟s sponsorship
with Sainsbury's Deepdale. Once again, the management and staff of the store will raise
much needed funds for The Appeal.

Football Match – Saturday 18 April

The Midwives from the Sharoe Green Maternity Unit versus the children of Team
Theme, at Corpus Christi High School. More details to follow.

“A Ball for Baby Joshua” – Black Tie Ball – Friday 24 April – 7.00pm

To be held at Leyland Golf Club, Wigan Road, Leyland. Organisers: Vincent and Angela
Slater. Champagne reception at 7pm with 5 Course Gala Dinner, Guest artist – Steve
Charles, Table Magician, Auction and Raffle with DJ Taz. Tickets: £40.00 pp Available

Charity Football Match – Preston TeamTheme v Sharoe Green Maternity Midwives
– Saturday 18 April

Held at Corpus Christi High School. The midwives will battle it out against the children
from the Team Theme Football Club.

Charity Football Match – Tuesday 28 April – Organised by Sgt Col Willan - North
West Army Recruitment Office

For the second year running, North West Army Recruiters and North West Ambulance
Service will be competing to raise funds for The Appeal. 7pm Kick off at Leyland FC
with FREE ENTRANCE into the ground. Sir Tom Finney will be kicking the teams
off. There will also be an auction and raffle after the match in the bar.


Preston Lady Farmers

President Mrs Glenda Wallbank of Preston Lady Farmers has kindly chosen Baby Beat as
the nominated Charity of the Year to benefit from fundraising events from May 2009 to
May 2010.

Fred Whitton Challenge – Austin Hughes - Sunday 10 May

Austin has kindly offered to take part in this 112 mile bike ride through the Lake District
in aid of Baby Beat. To sponsor Austin please go to:

C P C –“Dress Down Day” – Friday 15 May

The Staff at CPC in Preston will be paying £1 to dress „down‟ for the day.

Great Manchester Run – James Bennett – Sunday 17 May

James has kindly offered to participate in this annual 13 mile run and raise funds for
Baby Beat.

Jennifer and Stephen Sumner – Bike Ride - Saturday 23 May

Jennifer, Stephen and their team will be doing a bike ride from Alder Hey Children‟s
Hospital to Sharoe Green Maternity Unit, which is approx 31.6miles to raise funds for

In Memory of Baby William Myers-Molloy
The Pig Race at Cobble Hey Gardens – Bank Holiday Monday 25 May

There will be two pig races – 12noon and 3pm with all proceeds going to our Appeal.


Ladies Day at Royal Ascot – Departs 17 June 2009

Baby Beat major fundraiser and supporter, Sandra Allan has organised this very popular
event once more for The Appeal. Departing on 17th June and will include coach travel
throughout with 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast at the 4th Watford Hilton Hotel. The
cost will include admission to the Grand Stand on Ladies Day with a visit to Windsor

Captains Open Charity Day – Sunday 28 June 2009

As part of Penwortham Golf Club‟s sponsorship with Baby Beat, the Captains Open
Charity Day will be in aid of Baby Beat and the Lady Captain‟s nominated charity North
West Air Ambulance. The day will consist of a golfing tournament and entertainment in
the evening with Gino and friends.

Rossendale Way In A Day – Gordon Kay – Saturday 4 July

Gordon kindly offered to take part in this grueling 42 mile walk in aid of The Appeal.

Sainsbury’s Store Manager – Howard Morton – Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride
-Sunday 12 July 2009

Howard will be cycling 120miles and raising sponsors in aid of Baby Beat.

Sainsbury’s “Yellow Day” – 17/18/19 July 2009

As part of Sainsbury‟s sponsorship, the Deepdale store will be donning fancy dress and
hosting a number of events in store.


Wednesday 26 August 2009 – Preston National Farmer’s Union Ladies Social
Section – Birthday Party

As part of their sponsorship with Baby Beat, The Preston NFU (Lady Farmers) will host
a birthday party which will take place at The Derby Arms in Thornley with Mr Sean
Hughes, Consultant Gynaecologist/Obstetrician as guest speaker.


Ploughmans Lunch – Preston Lady Farmers Union – Saturday 12 September

Glenda Wallbank, President of the Preston Lady Farmers Union will be hosting this event
as part of her reigning year. This event will include lunch, bottle stall, cake stall and

B E A Charity Golf Day – Ormskirk Golf Club – Monday 14 September

BEA Construction Consultants have organised for the 4th year running this Charity
Golfing event at Ormskirk Golf Club. Teams will be competing against each other for the
coveted trophy. We will be looking for teams consisting of four people.

Preston North End Collection – Wednesday 23 September
The team from the Sharoe Green Maternity Unit collected at the Carling Cup game to
raise much needed funds.


Manchester University Students’ Charity Society “Helping Hands”

The medical students from Manchester University based at the Lancashire Teaching
Hospital‟s Trust have nominated Baby Beat as their chosen charity. The group will
organise events in aid of our charity over the next 12 months.

Abba Glamma - Leyland Golf Club – Friday 9 October - 7.30pm

Major fundraiser Vincent Slater is inviting everyone to this fabulous evening with Abba
tribute band Abba Glamma at Leyland Golf Club, Wigan Road, Leyland.

The childrens' choir of Queen‟s Drive Primary will be singing in store at Sainsbury‟s
Deepdale to raise funds for The Appeal.

Baby Beat‟s supporter Sandra Allan will be raising funds in aid of The Appeal.

Bag Packing in Sainsbury’s Deepdale – Fulwood High School – Friday 11 December

For the 3rd year running, the children and staff have kindly volunteered to bag pack in
support of The Appeal.

Queen’s Drive Primary School Choir – Saturday 12 December – Carol Singing in
Sainsbury’s Deepdale

The children will be raising funds by singing in store between 10am and 12noon.

Central Ribbleton Beavers, Cubs and Scouts – Bag Packing in Sainsbury’s Deepdale
– Saturday 12 December

The Pack have kindly volunteered to bag pack in store on this Baby Beat Appeal
Christmas weekend between 10am and 4pm.
