Solar Annular Eclipse 25 CAP 01
January 15, 2010 at 01:11 CST
Sabian Symbol: "A WATER SPRITE"
Charubel: (No description given on this degree)
Sepharial: "A wide open seascape on which are distant sailing boats"
When set for Washington, DC, this eclipse occurs in the 3rd house of communications,
neighbors and local experience. In mundane astrology this is the house of commerce. So we
would expect this eclipse to have some implications regarding the movement of goods and the
sharing of information.
Venus is closely conjunct the eclipse, however it is combust and under the Sun's rays.
Therefore, in traditional astrological interpretation, Venus' beneficence is weakened and
outshined. Venus is unable to improve the communications problems in Washington, DC, or
the commercial situation in the country.
The eclipse occurs at 25 CAP, which interestingly is the degree of US President Obama's radix
12th house Saturn. This planet is the traditional ruler of his Ascendant and is the ruler of his 12th
house as well. The eclipse here may lead to new health issues for the president as the
Ascendant and its ruler represent an individual's vitality. However, it is more likely to simply
represent deep, internal processes which could eventually result in a rebranding of his image.
The twelfth house, like the "junk drawer" in one's home, contains things both messy and hidden.
We expect the president is dealing with issues behind the scenes that require tidying and
rejuvenation.
(Update: Could this eclipse have alluded to the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico? In the chart set for
Washington, DC, Chiron and Neptune are conjunct the IC which in mundane astrology refers to
the common people, the land and its agricultural produce. It is not a stretch to include the land
under the sea, and the oil gushing into the waters of the Gulf has certainly damaged the produce
and commerce in the affected area, as well as hurting the "common people" whose livelihoods
depend on it. This disaster also has the potential to "rebrand" the president's image, as we noted
originally, depending on his handling of the situation. - Editor, June 1, 2010)
